We absolutely loved our stay at Newa Chen, the building is a beautifully renovated traditional house. The staff are very friendly and helpful, rooms are peaceful beautiful and clean. For the first few nights we stayed in the room with shared bathroom, then moved to private bathroom for one night. Both rooms were lovely. Breakfast is great, you get something... More

Traveling in Nepal with our young teenager, this was a lovely, wonderfully interesting place to stay near the temple square. Yes- low ceilings, yes- no luxurious baths (or exercise rooms or casino or Infinity edge pool.... you can get that stuff anywhere (even Kathmandu if you want)... that was much of the charm. If you don't get that, then don't... More

Had to ship out of Thamel in Kathmandu to find some peace. A nice little Unesco restored Newari house/hotel (well, B&B with breakfast that varies daily). Just off Durbar. Run by very friendly family. Hot water bottles delivered nightly, very clean. Static computer on landing for communal use. 24hr hot water. Wifi. How tall are you? Because at 5'9" I... More

My wife and I stayed here for a night at the end of a 3 week trip to Nepal. Its a 350 year old Newari house that has been beautifully converted to a hotel. It was by far the best hotel we stayed in. The room was lovely, with a view out on to the well kept garden. Its an... More

I usually prefer boutique hotels and family owned cozy guest house. Last year I have been in Patan in another cozy newari house, but this one is definitely at higher standards (thanks to UNESCO capital invested in). The deluxe triple room is the best choice or you cold go in the cheaper double bed with outside private bathroom. The garden... More

We showed up unannounced after our original booking turned out to be closed, and they could not have been nicer. The hotel itself is a wonderful restoration of a traditional Newari house, and well located a short walk from Patan's Durbar square. Everything was very clean and there is a nice shady reading nook in the courtyard with a long... More

Newa Chen is very traditional Newari guesthouse. That's what I loved about it! That being said, if you are averse to sleeping on a mattress on the floor, sitting on a low stool or the floor, or taking your shoes off while in your room, Newa Chen may not be for you. Each room is unique and has unique art... More
