Lovely setting and beautiful gardens. Ownership and staff are genuine and caring people. Great ambiance and atmosphere and food is made with love and authentic. Great place to mingle with locals and travelers from all over the world. This is the spot you will come away with smiles and come back for some more.

Our family ate here several times while staying at a nearby house. Good food and super inexpensive for the 5 of us. My teen son loved portion sizes of the pasta and the 3 pancakes. They also sell home-made bread and 5 gallon water jugs if needed. Good place to meet up with ex-pats and other travelers.

Great food, drinks, wifi, and almost always good company from village locals and passing travelers. Owner Hans is a local legend. The coffee served is Hans' own and is delicious. Oh, and the bread? It's baked fresh daily and is enjoyed at both the establishment and by local residents.

This is a friendly place where it is easy to meet other travelers in the dining area, a covered open-air patio surrounded by a pretty garden. It is run by a German expat and has some delicious German dishes on the menu. The rooms with bathrooms were all booked so I stayed in the dorm room, which has six beds... More

I am surprised to see that this little restaurant is only listed under hotels. We stayed at a different hotel in the area, but went to Han's place (as it is known by the locals) to eat a couple of times. If you are looking for local and rustic - a true experience - this is the place for you.... More

Had coffee here. Excellent Cappaccino! Read through the menu, and saw a rather complete offering of breakfast, lunch and dinner selections. If we had not already determined on a house with kitchen rental and preparation of our own meals, I most certainly would have made Hans's hospedaje our destination. Another big plus for the backpacker is the company one can... More

Up from the dock, the only dock for Jaibalito proper (there's a another dock in close proximity for La Casa del Mundo Hotel & Cafe just about two-hundred yards back toward Panajachel), about one-third up the principal calle, is a small sign on the left at the foot of a dwelling that says, in about eight-inch tall printed letters, "Posada... This hostel was recommended because of German meals and bread that are homemade daily. I must say it was a nice getaway and the cheese Spätzle are delicious! The food in general was very good and always fresh. Try the cookies too! We got to meet resident Rob Schmitt that has some great stories to tell about his very adventurous... More
