We ended up at Drake Bay with no accommodations because of a mix up and were recommended Cabinas Pura Vida by a couple on our ferry. I am so happy we did. Nolan is so kind and generous, he happily drove us when it was pouring rain. He organized great excursions for us for reasonable prices, less we found out...

Nolan and his wife were so accommodating and friendly. We were there during the off-season so we had the entire place to ourselves for the majority of our 4 night stay. They were in the middle of some quiet renovations where they had just made some additions to the common area (kitchen, lounge, seating area, etc). While talking to Nolan...

My wife, 2 kids (9 & 11), and I just stayed with Norlyn and Gabby at Cabinas Pura Vida for four nights and it was terrific! Norlyn booked the boat for us from Sierpe, picked us up at the beach, booked several AMAZING tours for us (Corcovado and Isla de Caño) and shuttled us the short distance down to the...

Norlin and his wife are real great hosts: allowing to get the best from your visit to Drake bay. Rooms are clean, comfortable but pretty basic, a common area is available for cooking or for having a coffee. The hotel is centrally located and give easy access to the beach and to restaurants and shops. Highly suggested

What more could you want - clean, comfortable, really efficient A/C, kitchen facilities with constant free coffee and airy dining room, an abundance of hammocks. To say nothing of being picked up from and taken to the boats - even though we hadn't requested it :) And the icing on the cake, they lent us each a pair of sturdy,...

We were really happy with our cabina at Cabinas Pura Vida! Beautiful, SUPER CLEAN property! Hammocks outside every room as well as a little table and chairs. Wonderful a/c in the room. Communal kitchen was a nice touch, too. Take advantage of that, if at the least, to refrigerate your water bottles! Wi-fi worked well in our room and around...

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a total of 5 nights and had a great stay. The room was composed of a double bed and a bunk bed (which we promptly used as shelves for our suitcases). The A/C worked extremely well, which was a MUST with such hot temperatures. We really utilized the shared kitchen and made most...

Decent hotel ... but be aware, if you can't pay cash they'll charge you an extra 10% fee. Of course they know there is no ATM any where near. :-( Otherwise the rooms are good and clean and the A/C did work properly. What of course is important in those hot and humid conditions.

I highly recommend this place. It was very clean and it just felt like home. The owner and his wife were very attentive. The owner went to pick us up at the beach when we arrived, he also helped calling a taxi when we left. He explained where to go and recommended some restaurants. The hotel had a nice and...

We had a wonderful time here! Norlyn and Gaby are delightful. We dined with them quite a few nights during the course of our wonderful time in Drake Bay. In fact, if the circumstances are right for them to be able to offer you a dinner, definitely consider canceling any standing plans and take them up on the offer. We...

“No wash sinks, so be prepared to use shower to hand wash adventure clothes and other gear. The one aspect I did have an issue with is breakfast. It was coffee, two pieces of fruit and plain (small) white toast with option to spread jam or better. Pretty bleak offerings and the service starts at 7:30 AM which is waaayyy too late for adventure travelers who usually wish to set off early before sun gets too hot. The panaderia is just down the road in the center of town and there you can buy bread and drink coffee and generally hang with interesting people. He takes credit card so that's nice although rate goes up. If you plan on having dinner there, my experience in small restaurants of this nature the quality of experience may be excellent but slow so...if you are pressed or don't have much patience, order half hour prior to sitting down at tables.”
