We had a lovely stay at Casa Horizontes. The setting and view are spectacular. It sits perched above the bay in the thick of the jungle where you are surrounded by a constant bird symphony. The inn and its furnishings are constructed of beautiful natural wood and all built by host Pedro. Our room was immaculate, with a very comfortable bed and air conditioning. Yami ( the hostess) is a delight. They were both very warm and helpful-served delicious coffee, and healthy and yummy breakfast and dinner on request. They were easily accessible yet we felt we had also had our privacy. * Best to book directly from their website! *
I stayed for a full week at Casa Horizontes in Drake Bay and had such a lovely time. The views from the house are stunning, the kitchen is well-equipped, and the town and beach were only a few minutes' walk away. Capuchin monkeys routinely ran across the balcony, and the garden was always packed with birds and butterflies. Yami and Pedro were extremely kind and accommodating. They left beautiful cut flowers in my room, let me use their washing machine, and even gave me a mini Tico cooking lesson! As a solo female traveler, I greatly appreciated all of Yami's open advice for navigating Drake Bay and Pedro's kindness in driving me to the airport at the end of my stay. If you are visiting Drake, this is hands down the best place to stay!
Just back from Casa Horizontes, Drake Bay, Costa Rica. Three friends had the pleasure of spending 3 nights with Yami, Pedro, and their extended family. Our tour guides, Gustavo our private biologist ... for our whale watching tour.. no less than 5 pair of motherwhale and calves. Elia .... for our corcovado park tour ... first tourists since the park was closed in March. Great for birders. We saw animal track but was not our day. Great guides very knowledgeable. While it may say 2 star the atmosphere, gourmet food and view of Drake Bay are 5 star to me. Thank you for a great stay.
I stayed here 2 nights with my girlfriend, her parents and a friend. Food was quite good. The rooms were clean. Staff member Reynaldo worked hard to provide us with a great experience. We were very pleased with everything about Casa Horizontes. Pura vida
This is such a delightful B&B. It is like staying with family. The owners, Yami and Pedro, and their helper Ronaldo, are so warm and helpful. Their service is 5*. They will get up early to cook breakfast for you before you leave for any early trips you have booked and provide fruit and biscuits on your return. How many hotels will do that? They will do your laundry at a reasonable rate, very helpful as it is so humid in the rainforest and your clothes do get a little bit damp and can definitely only be worn once! If you get the boat from Sierpe they will ask one of the boat captains to look out for you and when you arrive Pedro is waiting on the beach for you! He then drives the very steep road back to the B&B. Pedro and Yami even surprised us one night by picking us up from the tour operator after the night walk. It was a relief as we were exhausted! The view from the veranda is a stunning 180 degree view of Drake Bay. Here you can sit and relax, watch the birds (a pair of scarlet macaws fly past every day), and chat to other guests. We stayed in the Carpentero room in the main house which was cosy and clean. We had a shared bathroom with the guests in the room above us. There are mosquito nets on the beds but we found we didn’t need them as there didn’t seem to be many mosquitoes. There is no a/c but the fan helped cool things down a little. The breakfast is included with your room rate and was delicious. Excellent scrambled eggs and gallo pinto, fruit and pancakes on offer. We also ate dinner there a couple of nights which was very nice. You need to give them a day’s notice if you want to do this and we paid $16 per person for main course and desert. The tours that they booked for us (one to Sirena station in Corcovado National Park and the other a night walk) were excellent. The walk up to the house is very steep so that would be an issue for people with mobility issues. But I am sure Yami and Pedro would do their best to help. We were very sad to leave.…
