We have been in this area several times over the years and decided to stay here for just a few nights. During the rainy season, I am assuming things are a bit slower because we were one of 3 couples in the hotel. Not an issue...we had a private dinner and were the only ones in the great pool that overlooks the ocean The food at this place is 100% gluten-free and organic. So if you are wanting some excellent-tasting gluten-free food, this is the place for you.
We stayed here in June for 3 nights and were delighted with the place. It is a lovely beautiful hotel. Very comfortable and we also ate at the restaurant several times. The food was very good. We enjoyed the pool and seeing beautiful birds from the balcony. The service was excellent. We had laundry done and booked massages that were very good. Our server was great and very attentive and we are trying to remember his name. He was there often! We would highly recommend this small hotel if you are looking for a relaxing stay.
My one young son is celiac so we went here. We all loved it. Baked fish not recommended but honestly their ceviche is outstanding. Terrific steaks, And their little mini breadsticks with dip, spring rolls...so good. Make the trip. I'm not gf but this was great. Pretty grounds but we didnt stay here.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The best part is the staff! They are friendly, helpful and go out of their way to please customers. Each of them were equally outstanding. This is the best part of the hotel. The restaurant serves gluten free meals, which is an attraction to some people but we didn’t care for that. Breakfast choices were the same every day and there is a variety, but being gluten free was not appealing to us. There is a lovely pool but only 6 lounge chairs. This in inadequate for a hotel this size. From this location we visited Marino Ballena Beach and Ventanas Beach. Two amazing beaches! This hotel is in a remote area and you have to understand that you need to get a taxi to go to the beach, or elsewhere to dinner. Some taxi drivers charge double the rates of what others charge. We did a day trip to Dominical and did not enjoy that. It’s a “laid back town” and too laid back for our liking. If you are willing to either stay at the hotel all day, or take a taxi to the beach and to restaurants then this is a good place for you. It’s a great hotel with amazing staff. When we went to Marino Ballena we had a wonderful lunch in Uvita. Great people and great restaurants.…
Beautiful hotel and restaurant! A perfect find for four weary travelers. The rooms were beautiful and the food was delicious at the restaurant. Everyone was happy, polite and engaging. A gorgeous infinity pool! A free welcome drink in the restaurant with a happy waiter made our experience wonderful! The grounds are lush and beautiful but are not right on the beach but that didn't matter to us. The view in the dinning room at breakfast was breathtaking!
This is a lovely hotel, just north of Uvita town and quite near the beach, with beautiful grounds immaculately kept. The hotel restaurant is entirely gluten free and its open sides provide beautiful views of the lush forest and the Pacific Ocean. I also received a particularly excellent facial from Yolanda in their spa. The air conditioning was appreciated in this humid part of Costa Rica.
Always a pleasure to be here. So many gluten free menu choices, always prepared fresh and presented well. With a beautiful view of the surrounding jungle forest looking out to the sea, it is a relaxing and delicious experience.
We live here locally and this is one of our favorite restaurants. Everything on the menu is gluten free and delicious. The omelets are delicious and we also had the pancake dish which is very nice. We had fresh fruit to top it off and some of their wonderful coffee.
This was our fifth stay at Cuna over the past number of years. We come to this part of Costa Rica, as we are currently developing our retirement property. One could ask why not try other hotels in the area, and this would be an excellent question. However, when you find a place that's got a great location for what we need, fantastic atmosphere, and complimented with an incredibly friendly staff who keep the property immaculate, why would anyone want to change that. To quote; "If it's not broken, don't break it." We are returning to Cuna again towards the end of April and can't wait.
Easiest to list the issues we faced during our two night stay; From the moment we arrived the reception staff were cool and unhelpful. Awful smell of mildew in the room. No ocean view as advertised. Apparently the trees have grown!! Dilapidated uncomfortable sofa so nowhere to sit in the room other than on the bed. Bedding that just didn't fit the mattress, every morning we woke up wrapped in our sheet and mattress cover because they just didn't fit the mattress. No wi fi in the room, although it is advertised that it is. A safe that didn't work. When we investigated we found it had been repaired with sellotape! Laughably this hotel boasts a gourmet restaurant, the food is acceptable but when my partner ordered Tarte Tatin for his dessert what was delivered was a cold traditional English apple pie. The breakfast was the poorest of all the hotels we stayed in. We complained to our agent who made contact with the hotel and was apparently told that the hotel would make it up to us by giving us a free meal. When we checked out no such attempt at an apology was forthcoming either in the form of a reduction in our bill or a visit from management to deal with our issues. To add insult to injury we had to ask reception for some help to take our luggage down four flights of external steps. The reception staff seemed to have no enthusiasm for their work and not a jot of initiative. The ONLY saving grace in this hotel were the two male waiters in the restaurant. Both delightful. They should give the reception staff training in customer service.…
