From the moment we crossed the river in our 4-wheel, to our 1 1/2-mile ride up the rocky mountain road, we knew we were in for an adventure! When we arrived, it was informal, and laid back. No paper work to fill out, or credit cards to leave on file. Bert, Bella Vista's chief, cook, and bottle washer was great....

I had the good fortune of spending an entire month at Bella Vista Lodge in Dominical. If you want a genuine travel experience of one the most beautiful parts of Costa Rica, Bella Vista is the place to stay! I'm doing the whole location independent internet entrepreneur thing and Bella Vista provided a balanced environment where I could focus on...

Staying with Bert at Bella Vista Lodge is the ultimate "real Costa Rica experience"! It's exactly what Costa Rica represents for me. A rustic, beautiful peaceful setting with amazing views and sunsets, great food and very nice people. Bert is the best, always smiling and happy and a very talented chef. Always a breeze, so air conditioning is not needed....

We spent our 30th wedding anniversary at the lodge and had a wonderful time. The lodge was rustic and was exactly what we like. It sits on the side of the mountain overlooking the Pacific Ocean and even though we were there during the hottest time of the year we were comfortable most of the time. The beds were comfortable...

By far the best place we stayed - so unique. We stayed in the cabin, with balcony, hammock and stunning all round views of the sea seen even when lying in bed! The view was stunning, with the lodge set on the hillside above Dominical. Bert the American owner went out of his way while we stayed there, picking us...

Sitting on the open deck, overlooking a Pacific sunset is one of the best ways to enjoy a glass of wine. This lodge is also built up the mountain which also gives you the jungle feel while watching the birds. This is Costa Rica! But, what sets this place apart from others is your host, Burt. He is funny, welcoming,...

I stayed here with my fiancé and his two cousins. We rented the private two-bedroom cabina. My only regret is that we didn't get to stay here longer! It was such a lovely ambiance that provided a quaint, family-like setting where we became acquainted with really cool travelers through day-time activities, morning coffee and/or dinner. It was quite enjoyable to...

I first visited Bella Vista Lodge in 1999. Since that trip, Costa Rica captured my heart. I have lived in this country for 5 years now and when my friends and family come visit me, I get to go on vacation and "play tourist" again! Bella Vista Lodge is clean, welcoming, has great food that Bert is cooking up, has...

Over the years my wife and I have always enjoyed our escape from Los Suenos to spend some quality time "Tico style" at the Bella Vista Lodge. This year we were completely blown away with what we encountered. Everything about the lodge has been improved with the exception of the million dollar views and of course the stunning sunsets which I...

“Up top in the community area, I'd say the Toucan room is your best bet. Down below in the cabins, I'd opt for the top unit if possible. Bottom cabin can be pretty noisy depending on who is upstairs.”
