Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Diuwak hotel went over and above expectations! To start with, the staff. Alexander at the front desk was extremely helpful and spoke very fluent English (which is huge as I know little Spanish 😬)! Even if Alex was off work and I had a question he was willing to help! The restaurant was always cooking up excellent food from breakfast to supper! They were also even cooking after hours occasionally! Rodney the bartender is my new favourite bartender whom my girlfriend and myself were spoiled by his delicious drinks and even more his fun and charming personality! The cleaning staff was steady busy all the time, from sweeping up the leaves from the night before to cleaning the rooms, bar none! I highly recommend anyone visiting Dominical to stay at Diuwak, as I know will be returning in the near future! Pura Vida!

Stayed at hotel diuwak for just over a week. The staff Alexander at the front desk & Rodney behind the bar were phenomenal. Room were cleaned daily and the pool is amazing. Food & drinks made at the hotel restaurant were really good and reasonably priced.

Nice location, but the dirties hotel room I’ve seen in Costa Rica. Good traditional breakfast - the best I had in Costa Rica. Nice staff speaking Spanish but very little English. Close to the beach and with several restaurants around.

First off let’s start with the pros: it’s one of the nicer properties in dominical and quite happy with the layout and how the property is taken care of. The pool was quite nice and the hotel is located in a good spot. There is a guy that seems to run the desk and breakfast in the morning who is extremely friendly, polite and hospitable. We had many great interactions with him. The breakfasts were not huge but adequate, although it wasn’t well explained if we were allowed to have more than one coffee or juice etc and nobody offered us a refill but not the end of the world! The room and bathrooms were clean. The cons: we originally reserved a room with a fridge and upon our arrival was placed into a room without a fridge. They wanted us to pay them more for the fridge. After arguing and telling us we were going to leave, they conceded and provided us a room with a fridge. I was happy that a coffee maker was provided but after having opened it, I was disgusted about the amount of absolute filth was inside, I don’t have high standards for coffee (17 years in the army) but I wouldn’t drink anything that came from that coffee machine. To be fair I didn’t inform the staff because I didn’t want to complain about another thing on top of the fridge. All in all, I would probably go back if it was convenient and the right price.

Hotel Diuwak is a bare bones place to stay in Dominical. It shows signs of once being nice, but it has not been well maintained. The rooms are not very clean, need new bedding (and beds), repais and paint. Fairly close to the beach if you are a surfer. The beach is not great for swimming, especially if you have children.

When you walk into Diu Wak Resort it's like walking into an oasis of greenery, birds and beautiful pool waterfall. The stafff is very helpful, the food in the restaurant is excellent. We have stayed here 12 years in a row, so obviously, it's a wonderful resort. I would recommend it to anyone.

I can't believe some of the good reviews about this property. I wold give it less than zero stars if I could. It is an absolute dump. Dirty, moldy, plastic sheets...I could go on and on. Our first room was flooded from the A/C so they offered to put me and my husband in two separate rooms with twin beds. Obviously we wanted to stay together so declined that offer. After much discussion with the teenage kid who was working at the front desk, we 'upgraded' (at a cost of $50 extra per night) to a room that was barely functional. No hot water, the shower head release valve exploded-drenching everything-and then the toilet backed up. Again, worthless kid at the front desk could care less and we had to argue to move to another "upgraded room'. We asked that the hotel at least give us a refund of the $50 upgrade charge for the first night and teenage clerk said "my boss doesn't like to do that". Well, I don't like to schlep my bags around from one moldy room to the next either. Unbelievably bad service, gross rooms and a total rip off. Do yourself a favor and stay at the newly remodeled Tribe hotel up the street. Lovely rooms and staff that seems to give a sh*t about their guests. Domincal is a cool town with a great brewery and terrific Thai food at Phat Noodle but I wouldn't stay at the Hotel Diuwak if it was the last place on earth.

We have been staying at this hotel for 8 years and got married there on the beach. The staff made our visits so enjoyable. They are very helpful and pleasant people. The breakfast is excellent, and free! The pool is great with a waterfall. Definitely going back. We were there from Dec. 2020 until late February, 2021. Very Covid aware with wash station with soap and masks required.

This time at Diuwak has been beyond terrible. The water has been off over half of the time. What’s worse is the front desk has been coached in how to lie to the patrons. I have been here four days and have been given one lame excuse after another as to why the water doesn’t work. Today the office clerk said “No really it’s the kitchen let me show you”. As if that mattered for all the other times. The place is not what was. In my opinion they don’t give a damn about their service but will still charge top dollar for crappy accommodations. Look elsewhere. This place is doomed.

This is our 5 stay at the Diuwak. It’s always consistent, ok rooms, typical worn beds, tiny parking spaces and if the places is full creative parking. The grounds and pool are beautiful but, at times a hint of sewer gas as the sewers are not open but grated and all the units flow to common sewers. This is worse in dry season as not as much water is flowing through. Breakfast is nice with a typical fare of beans, rice, eggs, and fruit. I will return as overall I like the Hotel and it’s staff it is a very safe and secure location close to the beach and town.
