#2 of 20 B&Bs / Inns in Dominical
Travellers' Choice
Charming hotel 120meters/400ft from the beach and 5 minute walk to the center of town. Tropical Sands Dominical Eco Inn is located inside the town of Dominical. We feature air-conditioned rooms and fan cabins each with it’s own private bathroom and hot water shower. There are 2 A/C kitchenette rooms available, one with an adjoining door to accommodate families or groups. We offer clean, simple and spacious rooms, all with garden views and we have a bar/lounge where you can relax, have drinks, play games or meet fellow travelers. We have a safe and secured gated property on a dead-end street where you listen to the waves & nature with no busy noise from the town. We offer fresh local breads and coffee/tea in the morning for a nominal fee. There is also a full restaurant and a laundromat directly across the street. We speak English, Spanish, French and have a knowledgeable reception to help you in your traveling needs. We can reserve shuttle services, car rentals and book tours for you or just give thoughtful advice on what to do in the area. We use Eco-friendly practices and products; we recycle and encourage our guests and staff to do the same. We believe leaving less of a footprint is important so all our plans for future improvements are centered on this goal. We are new, motivated, owners and welcome all our guests to make our hotel their Home away from Home

BEST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER! I cannot recommend this place enough. The owners Amy & Ken are beyond kind & go out of their way to make sure you have the best experience possible. They have tons of amazing recommendations for restaurants and attractions which makes planning easy. The rooms are very clean & surrounded by an amazing garden. I have been able to see so many exotic birds & animals right outside my door! Another bonus is the hotel is located less than a minute walk from the beach and is right across from a cafe. I would definitely recommend this hotel for the ultimate experience of Dominical.

We stayed at this accommodation for 3 nights. We were unable to have a proper shower because there was hardly any water coming out of the shower head and there was no warm water. Luckily there was a foot tap outside which we used to get sand off our feet. The shared kitchen was extremely unhygienic and we don’t normally make our own food but we do like to make a cup of tea in the morning, but we decided not to use the dirty cups and utensils available. We bought some plastic cups from the supermarket to drink our cold drinks. We have been travelling around Costa Rica for 5 weeks now and this is the worst place we have stayed, The owners should get the kitchen cleaned up and install modern showers with hot water if they want to continue charging 60 dollars a night for there accommodation.

Dear Jayne, We keep a tight ship and if anything was not working you should have alerted us and we would have fixed the shower within the hour! My hubby is an amazing Mr. Fix It and keeps our property always in good order, but we have to be told if anything doesn't work or not up to par! Glad you liked our outside shower... it is not only beautiful with the colorful Talavera tiles but also very hand for ALL our beach goers and surfers alike! When checking-in people, we asked everyone to use it. We clean the communal kitchen twice daily (and several touch-ups in the day if needed) and have signs up for everyone who uses it to "leave it in the condition they would like to find it " but we are not police 24 hours a day. Sorry if you came behind someone who was not diligent about cleaning up after themselves, this is beyond our control if out of Reception hours. Generally we have had only respectful people use it. I dont think these small issues deserve a 1 out of 5 review. but it seems you might have been having a bad day as you gave other 1 /5 reviews to others on the same day. Concerning our price... for Dominical, we have the cheapest AC Hotel rooms in town ($70) and our fan cabins at $55 are a great deal seeing as you get a private bathroom, 2 powerful fans, hot water shower, a private terrace, table, chairs and a hammock. at $25 each, this is just a couple dollars over a shared dorm room and shared toilet in a hostel with other people. May I ask... I don't have your name in my registry, so I dont see you as a client or that you stayed with us? We are happy to hear any more thought or tips if you care to email us: tropicalsandsdominical@gmail.com Pura Vida Amy&Ken

Amy and ken are truly what make this place so special. Their passion for Dominican radiates from them. They have the best recommendations on things to do in town. Most of all they really make you feel like you’re staying at home. The place was very clean. And they bring their dogs during the day which was a total highlight for us! Absolutely loved it.

Simple, economical accommodations. Rooms are clean with air conditioning that works well. Plenty of hot water. Good internet. Walking distance to the beach is a plus! This is a surfing town with a young bohemian vibe.

I came to stay in Tropical Sands for just one month in November and here I am leaving after 3 months time with plans of returning. The atmosphere that Ken, Amy, and Ava have created is welcoming and tranquil. It attracts the best crowd, as I have made friends for life. Never I have I felt unsafe on the property or in Dominical as a whole. The owners will go above and beyond to ensure your stay in Dominical is nothing less then amazing. They have a full kitchen available for our use that made staying long term possible. Everything is kept clean from the rooms to the bathrooms to the kitchen. They have gardens all over the property giving it a jungle vibe as well as a sense of privacy! The best surf break in town is a few steps from the gate. As well as restaurants and shops. You get the best of both worlds staying here, steps away from the hustle and bussle of Dominical but far enough that keeps the property quiet and relaxing. I would highly recommended staying here!!
