My wife and I stayed at the Super 8 by Wyndham Phoenix Downtown for one night during a road trip. This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I know that it is a Super 8 and I was not expecting anything amazing but for a hotel you would think it would at least be an average experience with basic amenities but it wasn't. When we first pulled into the parking lot there were some sketchy looking characters. After we got our room keys we checked into our room and as soon as we walked in it smelled liked cigarettes. It was so bad. The room we got was a non smoking room but based on the smell you can clearly tell that previous people smoked in there. We walked around the room and noticed a small hole in the wall near the front door. Based on the size of that hole I would guess someone either punched or kicked the wall in the past and it was never fixed. The smoke alarm in the room was ripped off the wall so people that have stayed there before clearly smoked and the hotel management never cared to replace the smoke alarm. The blow dryer that was attached to the wall in the bathroom was also ripped out and missing. There was one towel for the 2 of us and when we asked for another towel they said they did not have anymore. The other hotel guests or possibly permanent residents were very noisy throughout the night and anytime they would run water we could hear it through our room. Based on all this DO NOT STAY HERE. It is not worth it even for one night…
We are in the middle of a pandemic and: when i used a clorox wipe to wipe off the controls for the a.c., the wipe was BLACK. NOBODY had swept under the bathroom sink area or mopped in what looked like months. there were NO pillow cases on the pillows and: the bed only had a sheet on it. a DIRTY one at that! i complained and the front desk said: yeah, we tell management customers complaints and: management DOESN'T CARE!. THIS FREAKING SAYS EVERYTHING. I got locked out by my key card, it wouldn't let me into my room, about 6 FREAKING TIMES, which meant i had to walk up and down stairs 12 times in `110 degree heat. the lamp on the desk was broken so the lamp shade just hung down off the bulbs, which were bright. this place was an ABSOLUTE disgrace.
This room was the most repulsive thing I have ever stayed in. Hair everywhere in the bathroom, sunflower seeds on the dirt carpet. They lost my package and said they returned it to sender , which they did not . So when I asked for a refund through amazon they told me to ship it back and over a month later the thing has still not been received. I called the day it arrived made sure my name was on it , they knew who I was and said it would be safe... got there hours later and it was completely missing . The attitude of the staff was not helpful and it seemed everyone was lying
Absolutely disgusting room. Black hairs all over the bedding, bathroom looked like it was never cleaned. Spoke to front desk about this and they did not apologize or offer reimbursement. Ended up leaving without a refund because we were not comfortable staying here.
Liked · The location can be good if you want to walk almost half an hour to get to downtown Phoenix. They have breakfast, however lame, but probably not worth risking it because the entire hotel is unsanitary. Disliked · Pretty much EVERYTHING! Wherever you stay, just do not stay here. We had just driven all the way from San Diego throughout the day. The check in receptionist just seemed bored to serve customers for starters and would hardly look at us (first clue!). When we got our key and got given room 121, the door wouldn't open after trying repeatedly (3 people) and we had to go back to reception (second clue!!) and the receptionist said you have to pull the door handle up (this is a standard door handle where you pull it down - really should have given up by now!!). So we tried again and it did not open again and by this time we were annoyed. We returned to reception and had to get a new room (the only other available room 122) which thankfully opened but the toilet did not flush. We had to get out so we asked them to fix the toilet while we are out (it was my birthday by the way). The room is overall very dusty and I have attached a photo of the chair which people probably had sex on and the hotel never threw it out or cleaned. We had also specifically booked a non-smoking room and we had to turn the AC on, open the door and get room freshener spray to get the smoke out. When we got back, the toilet was fixed and we went to bed. There was a thin (no idea what material but definitely not cotton!!) sheet to cover ourselves with. We looked in the drawers and found a blanket and a cockroach in the drawer! DISGUSTING! We slept in warm clothes with the thin sheet. Next morning, we found 2 cockroaches in the bathtub / shower and 1 more in the room! The coronavirus closures in USA were starting to kick off at the time so we had to cut our trip short but our last night we checked out of this hellhole and checked into the Tempest Hotel in Tempe (AMAZING!). While checking out, they even lied to us about who does the refund and kept picking up the phone and talking to other customers for ages. Just trust me and do not ever go there. We complained to booking.…
