We looked at a few hostals and hotels, but Chimenea was the best price for their service. While the breakfast isn't included in the price it's still very reasonable and the food very good. The people were incredibly nice; we especially liked Marco. It was rather quiet and a 5 minute walk to the hot spring. We could see a...

We ended up staying in Baños for 8 days to take Spanish lessons. Chimenea was affordable and the rooftop was great - it over looked the waterfall, which was my favorite. They offered same day laundry service and it was cheap - $1 per kilo. The only negative was we stayed in the downstairs room so it would be loud...

We had a awsome time in this beautiful lovely hosteria! Big recommendation! Beautiful little swimming pool, hangmats for relaxing, good view on the top but most all lovely people working there! Gracias a la Chimenea!

I strongly recommend not to go to this place. The staff is very rude, the rooms are tiny and dirty and the food made us feel pain in the stomach. They have a prize of the traveller's choice and we really can't understand why. Really dissappointed. The worst hostal we've gone to.

Stayed here with four people on bunk beds, very cheap and good value for money. They even have a spa resort and swimming pool inside. The people from the spa were really skilled and friendly, and the hot tub (for a small price) was a good retreat after the cycling the whole day. Would recommend!

We arrived very early in the morning (5am) and the employee at the front desk treated us extremely rude. We couldn't wait in the hostel and had to go out. It was so cold and dark outside!! We came back at 1 pm and our rooms weren't prepared. Everyone who is working there was so unfriendly. Never ever would go...

I went twice with a group of 10 people and we had the greatest time. The place is beautiful, the room is clean and comfortable and they have a swimming pool and a hot tub!!! The breakfast is incredible in terms of food and view (not included in the price but it's around 2,5$ and it is worth the price)....

Friendly and clean; good value and light rooms. Good location - just out of the noisy central area and near the hot springs. 150m from central market (photo of roasts available). Has own plungepool and spa centre - try the steam room before breakfast. Love the rooftop cafe; pancakes with fruit is fantastic there. Good WiFi and computers.

We stayed in Banos for two night which was an amazing town however I was not impressed with Chimenea. Although the hostal appeared good on the surface with clean common areas and rooms the service was poor. There was no soap in the bathrooms which we had to ask for along with toilet paper. The reception staff seemed more interested...

My wife and I had a huge room with our own bathroom and a balcony overlooking the waterfall, all for cheap hostel prices. The place is clean, and has on-site massages and steam boxes. The steam box experience was, well, interesting to say the least, standing stark naked in front of the hostel owner and whatever other travelers had booked...
