When you choose to stay somewhere, there are numerous factors to consider, which people will prioritize differently. These may include: price, convenience, cleanliness, amenities, safety, noise level, friendliness, guest culture, WiFi, and beta. For those who do not know the definition of "beta," it is one of those 'insider' terms used by outdoor enthusiasts and adventure travelers. Originally, it meant valuable and potentially life-saving information about a climbing route, an off-piste ski descent, a stretch of whitewater, a mountain-bike single track, a paraglider/parachute/aircraft LZ (landing zone), etc. Later, it expanded to include anything from important details about an unfamiliar locale (e.g., Ushuaia), where to get the best service and deals on various tourist activities, and where to find that perfect shopping or dining experience. Typically, you get "good beta" from a friendly, helpful and experienced local. On that note, your host at Patagonia Villa, Luciana, is that rare person you meet while traveling that you are going to add to your Christmas-card list; she will make your stay in Ushuaia just that special. Another distinctive travelers' term that this review brings to mind is "good money": when perhaps you spend somewhat more than your original budget but you get way more than you expected and it goes to people who you really like and who earn your respect, that's "good money." One more thing: Gentlemen, if you want to put your outdoorsy travel partner in an unusually amorous mood, bring her to Patagonia Villa. Well, that's it; I think I have answered the rhetorical question in the title of this review of Patagonia Villa in Ushuaia, Argentina.

I spent 5 days at Patagonia Villa Lodge in january 2020 with a friend. It's a beautiful hotel. Ushuaia is very cold but inside the hotel is warm and cozy. It's possible to see the woods from the window. It's near to the city centre (only 5 minutes by taxi) and the manager, Luciana, is very gentle. I do recommend this place.

Excellent service. Warm and comfortable cabin. We were 4 people and had a good time. I would add one tv in the living room area. Good location. 5 minute drive to city center. You have to go up wooden stairs to access the cabins since it is located up the mountain.

This lodge is quite close to downtown - main avenue, around 700m. Luciana and her husband shows truly class of how to excel a customer care. Both are very gentle, courteous. We spent 4 nights during the 2018/2019 New Year's Celebration and can say it was so amazing. Contact with nature, quiet, beautiful wood, comfortable room, very clean, cozy. I extremely recommend!

This is a well-run, 3-star 'lodge,' whose owner/operator does a great job of making you feel right at home. The three-level cabins (kitchen/guest bed or sitting room/master bedroom with en-suite bathroom) were clean and neat and relatively inexpensive. The kitchen area has seating for five, a fridge (with milk and drinks), coffee maker, tea maker, microwave and she brings over croissants and local breads for breakfast every morning. I would bring my own coffee and favorite snacks next time. There are five cabins in all, (ask for the one furthest from the road where we were for four nights - my family loved the jacuzzi). An adequate number of outlets, but I'd definitely bring two or three power strips - one for each level! We rented a car and found that the Villas were quite close to town but a car was so handy! (We drove all around the little town, drove to our tour area at the bottom of the town, drove to other points of interest such as the "Train at the bottom of the world," bought and carried food and drinks etc.) Overall a very nice experience - can be a little noisy if the neighborhood dogs are feeling a little restless!
