We loved this hotel for its lovely rooms set into the hillside, and the plunge pool to cool off from the heat of the day. The room was big with a little patio to enjoy a small aspect view of the hillside and houses. TilCara is a cute little town and not far from Purmamarca.
We loved this hotel. Its been really tastefully built into the hillside in a series of terraces and landscaped beautifully. if you're not up to climbing steps though, maybe not for you. The staff here were excellent and always ready to help - the night porter even got my husband different pillows at 3am! The little pool was lovely and the shady terrace above the pool a nice place to go if the pool was busy to read a book. Our room was huge and on the same level as the pool and we loved the design and the balcony - it was perfect to sit out in the evenings enjoying the view (SUCH a view!) with a beer or two. The breakfast was good - the cakes especially, they were all delicious. And we really appreciated having a car park. I would definitely recommend it and would definitely go back!…
We spent a week at Las Terrazas Hotel Boutique and we loved it, the staff was great, they even improvised a lunch -llama ravioli- one day for me and my husband because he was suffering from low back pain and couldn't leave the hotel. The facilities were also really nice with beautiful landscapes and it's close to everything in Tilcara.
This is a middle of the road hotel in Tilcara . On the plus side it has spacious, clean rooms and is close to the centre of town. However it didn't have as much character as other hotels we stayed in travelling round the Salta region and the staff were not as friendly and helpful as other places we stayed.
We chose this hotel for its quiet location in a neighborhood of authentic simple buildings and homes. Its about 10 blocks to the town center and an easy walk (some of the side streets are unpaved so if you have balance issues take note). The alternative appeared to be something higher up along one of the roads up into the hills where a walk into town would be longer and take more effort. As other have noted, the architectural design and flair of the place is quite elegant, from the plantings to the stone steps and terraced placement of its layers into the hillside. The problem is that, while clearly every room had a view when the building was new, the trees have grown up to cover most or all of the view of the rooms on the lower levels and some of the upper rooms. We had specifically asked by email ahead of time for a room with a view, as Tilcara is all about the expansive colorful hills that surround the town. We checked in to the hotel at 7pm and were shocked to walk into our room, Room 4, to find that there was virtually no view due to the trees (see photos). We asked for another room and were given Room 9, which is higher up, but has only a limited view of the hills and mostly a view of the neighbor's back roofs and power lines (see photos). No other room was offered. The good news is that the rooms themselves are large and nicely decorated, bathrooms clean and in order, dining room really lovely and parking area just a short walk from the entrance. It appeared that Rooms 6, 7, 8 probably have a lovely full view as the trees do not extent in front of their patios. There are full views from the swimming pool and upper patio if you plan on hanging out there. But we can't give this place 5 stars based on our disappointment. We suggest that management reconsider how they represent the views as part of the property description. There is a very helpful large, colorful map of the Tilcara area available from the front desk. Be sure to ask for it.…
The hotel is pretty nice. The setting is good and the location in the small town of Tilcara practical. Rooms were large and comfortable and there was a nice looking small pool, though we had no time to use it. In the morning there was a huge power cut just after we got up that meant breakfast had to be taken in the dark and showering (with warm water) wasn’t possible (electric pump one assumes). This was a bit annoying, but not the hotel’s fault. Breakfast was the usual uninspiring spread. Parking was easy.
Overall the hotel looks nice, but certainly needs attention to details, better cleaning and overall better quality. Definitely not worth its cost. As soon as we entered the premium room we noticed that it was not quite as shown in the web. The small living room we saw online was actually a small cauch with no table where to put a cup of tea. The room for two had only one chair in the balcony. Old towels, a chewed gum forgotten by the previous guest on the light table, moldy cheese in the breakfast buffet and bird poop on the room door for the duration of the trip (3 nights). We asked to get the room cleaned properly, didn't eat the cheese and didn't think we should tell them about the poop as it was very evident that needed to be cleaned. We wouldn't recommend it nor visit it again. …
This is a charming boutique hotel close to the centre but in a calm neighborhood. Local building materials have been used to create spacious and comfortable rooms, each with a small terrace. The dining room is not particularly cosy but when you are tired you can have a nice dinner in the hotel. We also enjoyed the cleanliness and the friendly staff.
It was a shame that we didn't have more time to spend in this great little hotel. We arrived late in the evening and then had an early start the following morning. The welcome was warm, beds were comfortable and breakfast one of the best encountered in Argentina.
We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It is a little hard to find and it's usually best to simply ask locals for directions. It is on the outskirts of the city, however the town is so small it's not a problem finding it. The rooms are on a second and third floor in what used to be an area for local farming. Fortunately the staff is very helpful and will take your bags to your room otherwise it would be quite difficult. The restaurant on the first floor is nice but the options for breakfast are very limited and this may be an area where the management could spend a little attention to. The rooms are large and beautiful with the magnificent view of the city. This is definitely a nice and different boutique hotel. Recommended!
