We stayed for a couple of nights and had a room on third floor overlooking the park. Lovely large balcony to sit back and sip some wine and watch the world go by. Excellent breakfast and extremely helpful English speaking reception. Small fridge in bar room with items if you want. Coffee tea and as it is South America no milk but very large Carrefours supermarket is just round the corner for anything you need. Good location. This is the hotel we will use for future Mendoza visits. Also there is a jacuzzi on top floor. Large room and good walk in shower.
Ideally situated, close to shops, supermarket and restaurants. Very helpful,English speaking receptionists who really go the extra mile - staff couldn’t be more helpful. Spacious, well kept rooms. Situated in a quiet leafy square. Good value
This is a very comfortable, clean, small hotel if you are staying a few days in winter months. Rooms are large enough, bathroom adequate but small. Pillows very uncomfortable. Nice terrace overlooking front street and park, walking distance to restuarants, food stores. I wouldn't stay here again, especially summer as there is no pool, no bar and no meal service on Sundays, quite a disappointment. Staff all very helpful.
The rooms are clean and fairly spacious. The staff is very polite and helpful. The food in the restaurant is really good! But if you think you are going to get that room they show on booking.com or hotels.com, the one with the lovely lanai? Well. I doubt that room exists. The hotel does front a City Park - across a busy street. There are no balconies on the front of the property that we saw. On one side of the hotel is an old hotel and on the other side is some sort of awful looking industrial facility, so where the lovely lanai in the promo pictures is, well...must be another property! We had a view of the awful industrial area in the photos; we thought about asking for a park view until we realized that those rooms would be noisy so we opted to stay where we were and close the curtains LOL. In spite of the lack of view, we enjoyed our stay. I wouldn’t call this a 4 star hotel as they bill themselves though. Again I think this may have something to do with our US standard vs how other countries view levels of service.…
El Portal is no doubt a small hotel. The lobby area and common spaces are not ample, but the rooms themselves are very spacious and the restaurant area is plenty big too. This hotel is perfect for those looking to escape hustle and bustle and enjoy someplace quiet. My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights. We had so much room in our suite (with a view of park) and felt very well located for walking to all Mendoza attractions. But the great thing about El Portal is the service. Lucia especially was on-point in all of her service and info provided and very friendly. Upon arrival she helped us figure out a way to pay the taxi driver in pesos and even arranged to have a delicious dessert brought to our room because the jacuzzi was down. We felt right at home during our time in Mendoza!…
