I wanted to give this property a great review even if it is closing next Tuesday. The location is AMAZING. About 6 blocks from the nearest subway station, in a super trendy area, close (three blocks) to a pretty sizeable outlet mall. All in all this was more than I could've expected to be honest. Let's start with the room, the decor is super classy and elegant. The room is spacious, it has a little closet that works as a room divider as well. The staff was super helpful and friendly, they provided us with maps and gave us tips as to how to move around in public transportation. One of the guys even got us some mate and we all did a "ronda de mate" together which was delicious. They were super helpful when we wanted to extend our stay by a day and they helped us get a cab back to the airport with a trusted driver and a set fare. The ONLY complain or observation is that the area is a little noisy due to the bars and restaurants around which is a double edged sword, so some nights we had roudy drunk people yelling on the street until the wee hours in the morning and the windows are anything but soundproof. 100% would book again if it wasnt closing :(…
We just stayed at the syrah apartment hotel for the 8th night (other places in between --long story, health emergency) but as we were checking out the manager told us the place was closing in June. We don't really plan to be back in this neighborhood needing a hotel again (though we also stayed at Be Hollywood and Palermo Tower, both perfectly fine) but Syrah was far and beyond the best value all around. We booked it because it's literally a half block from my daughter's apartment, but it was the best of the three and we would have lived to be staying there for fun. The manager said he's going to the Sheraton at Puerto Madero. I guess if we have to stay in BA again we would try to track him down there, though it's not the neighborhood I would choose to stay in.
I really enjoyed staying here after spending a month in Montevideo. This place is truly more of a luxury hotel. It's impeccably decorated and the rooms feel practically new. The staff was always very friendly and able to help you find or arrange anything. Syrah had some of the fanciest bathrooms I'd seen in Buenos Aires. Plus, the neighborhood is great for eating and walking around -- and though it's Palermo, it's Palermo "Hollywood." And it's still a close walk to the rest of Palermo. It felt a lot like Brooklyn.
When in a very small hotel like Syrah, they charged you twice the price the room was booked, you just don't want to deal again with this kind of places. The room are ok, the staff is ok, the trust is not.
The location of this hotel was perfect for us. There are so many restaurants and bars around in the Palermo area that are just steps from the hotel. Taxis were incredibly easy to flag down at our hotel. The kitchenette is a nice addition since breakfast is not included. The pool on the roof left a lot to be desired but it wasn't hot when we went so we weren't interested in using it. The hotel always had someone at the front desk and entry to the building required your key card so safety was not a concern. We definitely enjoyed our stay there and would recommend if you need somewhere for a few nights especially for the location.
