Stayed here for a night in March. The location is perfect if you want to stay downtown (however, I'd recommend staying in Palermo and getting the subway) The place is a bit shabby as it's located in a very old traditional building in BA - however, the location and friendlyness of the staff more than make up for that.

If you're on a budget and you're not too picky, this is for you. It's located in a quite central area close to Puerto Madero, calle Florida and many shopping areas, within walking distance from nearly everything you might need (restaurants, cinema, shopping, supermarkets). 21 year old solo female scared about traveling alone. First time out of the states and in a hostel. Great experience at Baires! Perfect location (10 minutes to the port and 15 to the beach by walking) and you're right in the center of the Gothic District (hip area for shopping and dining selection). 15 minute walk to the center... Very nice hostel, with superb staff, alway willing to help and with really good advises with tours and activities to do in the area. Really good value, and close to the centre of the city, 2 blocks from the Obelisco.

Staying in San Nicolas

Neighbourhood Profile
San Nicolas
Immersed in the sound of honking horns and the footsteps of busy office workers, the Microcentro area of San Nicolás is where visitors will encounter the true hustle and bustle of Buenos Aires, walking down streets lined with office buildings and banks. The financial district is well-known for its vibrant atmosphere and unstoppable rhythm during office hours. After dark, the hubbub and migrates to Corrientes Ave., where theatre lovers might start their evening at a play and end it in one of the many traditional pizzerias nearby. During the day, Corrientes is known for its many bookshops and classic cafés, which are located just minutes away from some famous landmarks, like the Obelisco, Avenida 9 de Julio, and the Teatro Colon.
