This is a great bargain. Well located a block from Tortinos (oldest cafe in BA) in the Microcentral. Clean and well maintained rooms (I saw about 5 of them). Friendly and good service though English is minimal. A Starbucks is across the street and there are many traditional restaurants within a few blocks. Good lounge with wifi. The only bad...

We had a very bad experience with Hotel Alcazar due to its horrendous staff with lousy attitude, unpolite nature and very simple nasty rooms. There are better hotels nearby at this pricerange so go with something else...the staff were unfriendly, angry at the guests and openly shouting at them/us(for trying to open a broken door!!?!) They treated us like garbage...

Ideally located just south of the Avenida 9 de Julio thus right downtown, it's a great old building with a lot of charm. Price is unbeatable. Comfortable beds, clean room, great awe-inspiring balconies. Bathroom was odd, no shower stall, bad drainage.

I love this hotel; it's so beautiful. They were remodeling it when I went, but it was a great experience. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who loves a low budget wonder. We stayed on the 3rd floor and it had a great view of the street below. It’s walking distance to any little shop including Calle Florida, shopping...

I went in September of 2005 and spent three nights there. It is located in the "Avenida de Mayo", very close to the government building "Casa Rosada". I payed 50 Pesos per night, which was then about 13 Euros. I got a nice room with a heating device, cable television and a bathroom. Towels were changed every day. The room...

Staying in Montserrat

Neighbourhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighbourhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.

“All rooms are reasonably quiet. Those fronting on the street have double windows. Other rooms open onto atriums. Those in the back have less noise from guests coming and going.”
