This hotel is in a great location. The staff were helpful and welcoming and the breakfast was fine. Rooms were a little old fashioned but perfectly fine. If you're happy with a no frills hotel, this will suit you.

We stayed for 3 nights in this hotel. The hotel is located in a great spot, but the facilities and the room at the hotel are definitely outdated and less than basic. The shower was horrible and the breakfast was very poor. We would not really recommend this hotel to anybody and we don't understand how did it get its...

I arrived and had a single room which had an extremely noisy fan both rooms. The next room I had was adequate. The breakfast was the standard for this country. The place had the best coffee on my entire trip

Helpful staff and competitive rates. Rooms are comfortable but small. Breakfast OK. Although Paraguay is central it's not the nicest area and nervous travellers might prefer somewhere on a main Street.

The Waldorf is well placed for accessing the main parts of the city centre. The rooms are clean, although the décor in some of the public areas is looking a little tired. Breakfast was substantial, but in common with Argentinian practice, leaned heavily towards pastry and cake. There was, however, a welcome bowl of fresh fruit and yoghurt. The packed lunch...

As soon as I arrived we had to change rooms because of the cigarette smell. The a/c was broken and in the middle of the night it started leaking water in to the bed. The price is way to high for the service in general. I got stuck in the elevator, just for a while; but it could be my...

Ok so the hotel may not be 'the Waldorf' we associate the name with but its ok. A good location and a ideal place to stay if you intend to have just a few nights in Buenos Aires. The advantage is directly across the road is a great sports shop which sells football shirts - lots of people bring back...

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
