The staff was wonderfully accommodating. The breakfast buffest in the restaurant was brilliant. The only reason I didn't rate the property as "excellent" is I think they have some infrastructure problems. One day we had zero hot water and on another they just could not...More

(1) Better rooms and amenities compared to the Sheraton next door. Seems to have better sound proof at the windows where you are less disturbed by the noice from the traffic outside the hotel
(2) polite and helpful staff
This was one of the most pleasant and memorable hotel stays ever.
From the moment we stepped inside, the entire staff made us feel welcome and special (even though we were dressed like bums).

Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with
ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.

I would be careful walking around too much without getting guidance from the concierge. I say that because one night we decided to walk back from the mall and our GPS took us behind the hotel on a street that ran parallel to the main street that the hotel is on and it was very scary. It was about 6 pm at night and dark. Thankfully, a security guard to another building allowed us to cut through otherwise I have no idea what would have happened. Also, we were told by a local that a park near our hotel was dangerous. So just ask the concierge where you should and shouldn't walk.
