Highly recommend this gorgeous hotel. Very well located in a great area. Close to shops and museums. Beautiful historical decor. The breakfast was wonderful. The concierge was so lovely and she made excellent recommendations. The staff were excellent. The lobby bar is legendary.
We used to stay at the Plaza Hotel in Plaza San Martin. Which closed. We moved to Sofitel del Arroyo. Which also closed. But whenever I passed in front of the Alvear, knowing that Princess Di stayed there, I thought about what would be different in this hotel. And now we find out: class , a lot of class. Service by employees who look like a palace, cinematographic environment, but all with a lot of Human warmth. We were exceptionally well treated. From breakfast with waiter Pablo to restaurant reservations made by concierges. We feel like kings.
We stayed here twice during our visit to Argentina on arrival and before we departed. We have traveled all over the world and I would say this is the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff, restaurants, accommodations were excellent. Our room was so comfortable and luxurious. Concierge was so helpful on making recommendations for shopping and set up a nurse to visit our rooms (we traveled with three other guests) for the Covid 19 antigen tests so we could go home. The food and bar areas were great. I can't say enough about this place and the money was well worth the stay there. Safe area and you can walk all over the neighborhood and shop. We look forward to coming back and staying at this hotel.
My husband and I just returned from a sublime 7 night stay at the Alvear Palace Hotel. We both agree that it was amongst the top hotels we have ever experienced and we have stayed in some magnificent hotels all over the world. The decor is spectacular - ornate, as befits a palace, yet tasteful, and the rooms were beautifully appointed - we had a junior suite, which was large and comfortable. But it was the outstanding service which sets this hotel above the rest. Everyone - from the front desk to the incredible concierge staff to the waiters in the lovely restaurant to each and every person who we encountered in the hallways and who brought something to our room - acted as if their sole purpose was to make our stay as wonderful as possible. And did they ever! Clearly this is a policy that comes from the top down. Just to give an example - we had to leave at 4:00 am for the airport on our last night and so couldn't partake in the wonderful buffet breakfast that is included every morning. When my husband, who MUST have his coffee upon awaking, no matter how early the time, asked if there was any way to get some coffee before we left, they took our order and when we came down to leave they had our coffee, orange juice and cold cereal all packed up and waiting for us at the front desk. We both had the feeling throughout our stay that there was nothing we could have needed and requested that wouldn't have been happily attended to. Highest recommendation possible.…
We stayed four days at the Alvear Palace Hotel after our South America cruise and thoroughly enjoyed the location, service and food. It is conveniently located close to attractions and good cafes/restaurants. For breakfast, it offers a nice variety of fruits, breads, and cold cuts, in addition to scrambled eggs, sausages, sautée veggies and potatoes. Room was clean and spacious with a comfortable bed. The personnel at Concierge were nice and very helpful. When I asked about where I can take a PCR test for the flight back to the USA, they said they can send a lab technician to our room for $8,500 pesos per person (about $85 US dollars) paid in cash. That was very convenient! For the fee, you can choose to have an antigen (get immediate results and the lab certificate in 2 hours) or a PCR (get the lab certificate in 6 hours) via email. You can print the results in the hotel's business center. During our stay, Israel's Vice-Minister was also staying in our same floor, so security was tight but we felt safe. Overall, a very good experience at Alvear!…
My wife and I stayed at the Alvear Palace for four days in March before traveling to the south for a week of fishing. The hotel is in the high end district of BA and a number of embassies are within a block or two of the hotel. The staff was gracious hand helpful, especially the dining captains, bellmen and doormen. We were in our room for about 15 minutes before we received a call that the water was to be turned off in our area of the building and that they would relocate us to a second room. The second room was nice, but on our last night a wedding was held in the ballroom directly below our room. The music thumping through the floor continued until 5AM on checkout day. The wedding ended earlier, however it seems the teardown staff kept the music on while they worked to remove the lights, stage and dinner tables. My wife complained and the hotel removed the charge for a dinner we had at the hotel and room taxes. I probably will not stay at the again, but I enjoyed the experience despite the missteps.…
Fantastic hotel, service at the reception and concierge was great. Room was amazing - we very kindly got a free upgrade to a suite which had 2 bathrooms (one was huge!). Breakfast buffet one of the best have had.
I consider the Alvear Palace Hotel the most charming and iconic of the traditional hotels in Buenos Aires. Excellent location, high quality of service and an excellent gastronomy. It is, devinitively a hotel that deserve to be known and enjoyed. Past, tradition and high hospitality integrated in a very charming place.
Stayed here as part of a "Scenic" pre-cruise option. The check-in was very easy, the room was lovely with plenty of room, a massive bathroom and very a comfortable bed. The breakfast buffet was extensive and located in the conservatory which is stunning. The hotel is well-located for the local restaurants and very close to the cemetery where Eva Peron is buried. The only negatives we had over our 5 day stay were firstly that we got savaged by mosquitoes on the rooftop bar and secondly my husband was not impressed by the burger he had in the bar. Overall a very nice stay.
First rate everything -- rooms, bathrooms, food. Above all, a level of personal service exceeding anything else in South America, indeed comparable to the best of the world. Close your eyes, and you could be at the London Savoy, or even better,.
