Travelling to a country with different language, communication is always a challenge. Yan, the host, speaks English and is a super helpful host. He answered all my enquires via email and WhatsApp before my departure and arranged airport pick up for us. On our arrival, we were so exhausted, just wanted to have something to eat and went to sleep. Yan helped us with take away dinner so that we can get some rest. He recommended activities, made sure we know how to get to the points, loan us the subway card the next day. He is a super caring host. The place is safe, clean and comfortable. I highly recommen this place.
From the first contact with Yann via email until us leaving it was like talking to and visiting a friend! After arranging a airport pick-up for us we had a warm welcome by Yann at the B&B. Behind the yellow facade you find a great courtyard, all the 4 rooms are facing this, chairs and tables outside rooms. The room we had was spacious and clean, separated bath and comfortable bed and bedlinen. There is a heater for cold nights and extra blankets. No a/c but a great big ceiling fan. Yann is the perfect host and he makes this place the great oasis it is! He are doing most of the work himself - ex. serving up a simple and great tasting breakfast every morning in the small kitchen area. He gave us great tips and recommondations and helped us with all our questions. In the kitchen there is coffee and tea all time and Yann has a "honesty-bar" in the fridge open 24/7 - get your drinks, sign number and name on the wall and pay when you check-out. Located in a quite street - a small supermercado is a 3 min walk away, coffee-shop across the street and several restaurants close by. A 10-12 min walk to San Telmo area and close to subway stations. We also found it very easy and cheap to use taxi around BA. If you are looking for a small oasis with the best host during your stay in Buenos Aires, look no further! Yann is your man and B&B La Querencia de Buenos Aires is your place! Highly recommended!…
Very nice b&b. Convenient reservation, great price, good breakfast... Decent location, rustic yet stylish interior, and very very kind service from Yann: he gives recommendations, makes reservations, provides electric converter, maps, you name it. Speaks English, though French and Spanish are his first two languages.
I can't give Yann enough accolades. My flight from Montevideo was many hours delayed and he called me several times to see when he could arrange a taxi pickup. By the time I finally got into Buenos Aires I was unable to get currency and Yann fronted me the taxi fare and some money to buy some food. He also helped me with sites to see in the city and let me borrow his Sube card for use with transportation. All the rooms in the B&B, as well as the dining area and kitchen, front an interior courtyard. My room was good sized, with a separated bath, desk and plenty of clothes storage. The bed was comfortable, but a little short for a six foot plus person. Breakfasts were served by Yann between 8 and 10 Monday through Saturday and 10 to Noon on Sunday. They consisted of coffee and juice, rolls and jams, jelly's and other spreads. The B&B is located in a mostly residential/small business area with most of the site seeing areas in other parts of town. Those areas can be easily accessed by walking or taking the subway which is several blocks away on Av San Juan. I was able to take that Purple Line to the Main Station and then transfer to the Green Line going to the Palmero District for 7 and 1/2 Pesos. Taxis to and from AEP to the B&B were about $20 US.…
Yann is really the star of La Querencia. I stayed here for five nights recently, and unfortunately fell sick during my time in Buenos Aires. I had to visit a doctor, and Yann helped find out where I should go for an English-speaking doctor. He also made sure I got plenty of hot tea with honey during breakfast - much needed when I was coughing my lungs out! I stayed in two different rooms, and both were especially clean and comfortable. The rooms all open into a pretty courtyard, and noise wasn't an issue. There is also a small kitchen with coffee and tea that guests can use any time of the day. Breakfast was simple - only breads and spreads and coffee and tea, but Yann serves breakfast single-handedly and runs the B&B on his own so I understand that a full breakfast might be out of the question. On my day of departure, I had to leave before the usual breakfast hours, but Yann went out of his way to make sure I had something to eat before I left for the airport. He also made sure I got into my Uber safely, which was very sweet of him. Location wise, La Querencia is in a more residential area but it's an easy walk to landmarks like the San Telmo market, Plaza Dorrego and Casa Rosada, The b&b is also close to a number of Subte stops, and a number of bus stops was in easy reach. I paid $58 per night, which I thought was good value. Would definitely stay with Yann again!…
