This hotel has an outstanding appearance with a beautiful lobby, mezzanine and outdoor terrace. The breakfast buffet is excellent. The bathrooms are nice and newly renovated. The staff mostly has difficulty with English, with only a very few being fluent enough to understand very basic English conversation. The rooms, while OK had a few problems. There was nowhere to plug-in...

The Scala is comparable to a Holiday Inn. Comfortable, clean, and adequate, but no style. There is a kiosko located just around the corner and a Shell across the street if you need a large bottle of water (only small ones available at the hotel).

A real four-star hotel - huge comfortable beds in huge classy room, spotlessly clean throughout, amazing shower, fantastically helpful (and numerous) staff, enormous buffet breakfast and a very good location for San Telmo. They have their own taxi to get to the airport at a reasonable rate. Top notch

We stayed twice in this hotel. At the first time I got a room with smell of cigarettes so I had to change the room [ just arriving after a long day and flights]. At the second time I had to ask to change the sheet because it did not look clean. The room is big and the meals were...

Great location and the breakfast is good!!The rooms are big and clean. Can be a bit noisy from the traffic..It will be even better when the swimmingpool is ready 2015. If you travel to Buenos aires in the summer you need a swimmingpool! Would stay here again!

Our overall experience was very positive. The staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. They exchanged dollars for pesos at a very good rate which was helpful. When we upgraded to a suite they offered a very competitive rate. Positives: 1. The hotel overall is kept very well and very clean. 2. The rooms are clean and spacious. 3. Centrally located....

We arrived by midnight and the front man was unpolite to 4 guests, suggesting that we had reserved for 10 and there were 13 people(3 KIDS). I had to told him that I reserved a triple room(more expensive) for 2queen beds and that in their site it was said that one child was allowed for free.Again, in a very rude...

Stayed at 4 star hotels across South America/the world and have never experienced such terrible service. Please consider somewhere else. If you stay here, at the end of your disappointing stay just hear my voice in the back of your head saying 'I told you so'. Stayed here for 5 nights over Christmas No one helped us with our bags...

Clean room. Location OK - not very central but close to San Telmo which is a nice little area. Seriously lacking in it other departments. Very unfriendly / borderline rude staff on the reception desk. The price was reasonable and we stayed for a whole week, but every interaction with the staff left me with negative feelings. Asked to borrow...

We had a great stay for 3 nights. Great location, very helpful staff, clean and spacious. They have a cool solarium in back, fast, free WiFi. Front staff recommended attractions, restaurants and called quickly for taxis. I strongly would recommend to anyone visiting Buenos Aires. Thank you to La Scala for a stress free stay.

Staying in Montserrat

Neighbourhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighbourhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
