We were made most welcome by our hosts. Nicely renovated building, very close to the centre of the city. very clean and comfortable and for the most part quiet. Excellent value. Its a little challenging to find from the street. Its a couple of doors down from the corner. Loved the local bars and restaurants. The places recommended by the...

We were looking for a comfortable place to stay in the downtown area. La Perla was perfect. It is in a beautiful old building minutes from Paza de Mayo. Staying here gave us the feeling of visiting a neighbourhood rather than staying in a hotel, which was exactly what we were looking for. The rooms are beautiful and large, the...

A lovely tranquil retreat on the most historic block in the city. Ada and Valentyn are consummate hosts, and their personal warmth, professionalism and close attention to detail result in an experience of true hospitality. I felt welcomed from the moment I stepped through the door from the busy street and into the cool, leafy courtyard. Delicious breakfasts, lots of...

A stay at LA Perla is no ordinary stay. When you step foot into the building you're immediately slapped in the face by the impressive grand hallway that leads you to the common courtyard. From here you're instantly fixated on the stunning classic elevator that feels more like an artefact than a mode of transport. Ada and Valentyn are delightful...

I loved the ambiance of this b&b—from the hardwood floors, tall ceilings, and locked doors, tile floors, and more. We always felt safe. We loved being in the San Telmo neighborhood with its easy access to almost any place in the city. On Sunday they have a market which went on and on for blocks and blocks and blocks. Valentyn...

Valentyn & Ada your gracious hosts make you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. They accommodated any special needs we had and provided local tips on what to do and where to go including make the phone calls to arrange it. The rooms are spacious with your own bathroom that was enormous. A great value for your...

La Perla is a beautifully elegant furbished B & B hosted by the lovely couple Ada and Valentyn. We had a room w/ ensuite. It was perfect, wonderfully appointed, comfortable bed, big light airy room, with pedestal fan if needed. The facilities are spotless. Valentyn speaks excellent English and was most helpful with money exchange, buses, trains, maps, points of...

After reading the reviews if this Bed and Breakfast, I reserved over a year ahead of time for my stay prior to a cruise. From my first enquiry by email, I knew I had made the right decision. The building is elegant with an ancient wrought iron elevator. The place is spotless, the beds are so comfortable that you fall...

Ada and Valentyn host their guests on the third floor of an elegant historic apartment building, with an entrance courtyard and an iron -grilled Parisian style elevator! Our room was enormous, and very quiet as no rooms face the street. There is plenty of light, albeit no views. Breakfast, with wonderful cappuccino, is served on another floor in a gracious...

Planning for a place to stay so far from home where I do not speak the language is daunting. After researching areas I narrowed down our choices, read the reviews and contacted La Perla almost a year ago. From the first email, which is answered quickly, I felt we might have found the perfect spot. The time Valentyn and Ada...

Staying in Montserrat

Neighbourhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighbourhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
