…and the perfect location for our thrilling first visit to Buenos Aires. At Casa Calma, they intuited our needs, understood our cultural hungers, and compensated for our many language and mechanical challenges with grace and good humor. Ana and Rodrigo were especially charming and articulate and attentive to us. Conceptually, the open bathroom plan and modern minimalist plumbing are brilliant,...

Stayed for 2 nights on my way to Patagonia. As I was travelling alone and having rudimentary Spanish language abilities I really appreciated the hotel staff fluency in English. They helped me with directions for walking tours and arranged a tango evening show. Hotel is clean, quiet. The dry sauna in the room was very useful - helped curtail a...

We arrived early after disembarking from a cruise ship and were given our clean and prepared room before official check in time. The room was light and bright with a full scale window covering a whole wall looking out to some cleverly camouflaged designed greenery. The bathroom was very modern and clean and the room was extremely spacious and quiet with...

I have been to many hotels and Casa Calma was full of pleasant surprises. I've read the reviews and I knew it was good, but at the price we paid I didn't expect it would be THAT good. Very spacious rooms, modern but cozy design, eco-friendly materials used for everything. Honesty bar. Yoga mat in the room. Bath salt and...

Beautiful spacious rooms with double jacuzzi, nespresso machine, stereo, big tv and dvd. The service is outstanding, a team of young people doing all they can to feel you comfortable. Every single person so nice, helpful and motivated. It was the best hotel we had in our 2 months travel southamerica. Thank you casa calma team!!

Buenos Aires is a vibrant and noisy city. Casa Calma is located in Retiro in a quiet street (Suipacha), close from San Martin Square, Avenida 9 de Julio, and Ricoleta. Many restaurants, and shopping. Close to Florida where you can change USD at a good rate (1USD=12/13 pesos. Official rate is 1USD=8,51). If you pay your bill in USD cash,...

All li can say is that CASA CALM is a haven. From the moment you knock on the door and are warmly welcomed into a home you are cared for. The vibe of the place is calmness itself. My room had been thought through to the light positions, the small working desk, the positon of the lights and CD/DVD player,...

This hotel was small only 17 rooms I think. The rooms were large with a large open plan bathroom with a jacuzzi bath a separate shower plus separate loo. Bed was very comfy. We didn't have a view from out room but there were lovely fronds hanging down making the room very peaceful. The desk staff were brilliant recommending restaurants...

Not certain I have much to add to the other excellent reviews of this facility, but I'll echo all of the accolades given by others. Charming boutique hotel in an excellent location for seeing a number of the top sights of BA. We walked to Recoleto Cemetary and to the Belles Artes Museum, and it was a relatively inexpensive ride...

All that and a great location too. We've never stayed in a hotel quite like it. More like a cross between a B&B and a Health Spa. The rooms are sort of Scandinavian minimalist. We even had our own sauna. The location is great, convenient to everything. Some great cafés and restaurants nearby. And the staff are so friendly, and...

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
