I found this place on trip advisor and saw the 5 star rating and we decided to stay here. It truly lived up to the ratings. The home was built in 1904 and has probably had it's share of renovations but the owners have done a splendid job in keeping the house's old world charm! It's beautifully decorated and immaculately...

Dear Guest Thanks so much for taking the time to review our Guesthouse, We are delighted that Summerwood lived up to your expectations. We love the heritage that comes with Summerwood & all our renovations have tried to modernise while maintaining the character of the building. We hope you can stay with us longer next time you visit South Africa!

We stayed at Summerwood for one night in the Top Room, Number 8. We wish we had a bit more time to enjoy it as it was such an amazingly beautiful place. Contrary to other reviews, we really enjoyed the breakfast, they provided eggs to order and loads of healthy options. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the staff were...

We found this guesthouse to be comfortable and the staff pleasant and helpful. The one reservation is the quality of the breakfast provided. It lacks in quality and imagination with little bits of this and that provided on a self-service basis which we don't like. The bacon and eggs would be far better if cooked to order and the croissants...

Dear Guest Thank you for your review. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay, Room 2 is a popular choice! The issues you had with breakfast were indeed shared with other guests recently. Please rest assured that we take this feedback very seriously and are working on practical solutions to suit the various pallets of all our guests. Better...

Not much to add to other reviews: comfortable accommodation, nice pool and garden, excellent breakfasts, friendly management team. It was a bit of a walk back from the town on a hot day, but overall we could not have been more satisfied.

Visited Summerhouse during South-African spring (september). Booked one night, but stayed another because the room + surroundings were very nice. Lovely garden, nice and friendly staff. Too bad breakfast didn't match the excellent standards of the rest of the hotel: soggy croissants, cheap yoghurt and horrible coffee. Not too mention the fruit juice (obviously not freshly squeezed!) But don't let...

We have recently returned from a month in South Africa during which time we spent a very pleasant stay at Summerwood. We were welcomed by friendly staff, and were looked after very well throughout our visit. Tess and her team went out of their way to make restaurant recommendations/reservations all of which proved to be a great success. The Guesthouse...

We stayed 3 nights at Summerwood in February and left a little underwhelmed especially considering the rave reviews we'd read before arrival. The property is nice and comfortable so long as you you like twee design and lots of grey (which we happen to like), and the pool and garden area are nice and peaceful, our room could have done...

Dear Guest Thank you for your thoughts on your stay with us at Summerwood. It is always valuable to hear first hand about our guest’s experience. It saddens us to hear that your stay was less than satisfactory. We would like to take this opportunity to provide you with some feedback on the 2 major things that disappointed you. Service:...

We had stayed at Summerwood when under previous ownership about 6 years ago. Since then it has been modernised but remains a beautiful (if less characterful) building in a peaceful pleasant neighbourhood about 20 minutes walk from the centre of Stellenbosch. The room was satisfactory if not very large and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was attractive with a...

A very nicely renovated Guest House within walking distance to the city and only 5 minutes drive to nearest vineyard. Service from the two managers was great - Tessa and Danika.
