A few years ago i stayed in a very good b&b in Hermanus. For a change i decided this time to make a reservation in Abalone. What a pleasant surprise! Accomodation, seaview, breakfast and service were all very good. (including the recommendations for restaurants). If i ever come back to South Africa (it is a long flight from Europe) and... More

We had room 5 - which was sea facing and can only be described as stunning. Staff were really friendly, pool was great. We walked along the coast walk into Hermanus for dinner took about 40 mins and was lovely. Everyone helpful, room beautiful - couldn't fault it.

For interior design The Abalone will win awards, for customer service they need to improve. Our welcome came from someone who introduced himself as the porter. He was the only person we saw all day, even when we went to the welcome drinks mentioned on the note in our room. I'm not sure what it is trying to be -... More

We had 3 great nights at Abalone, everything was beautiful from our room to the view. We both had one of the best massages that we have had in the on site treatment room. Great walk along the coast line with breathtaking views

We booked on line and were nervous but this lodge exceeded all expectations. It was a perfect location, the staff were wonderful, the breakfast terrific, and the little touches all very welcome - a book shelf full of books to share, turn down with chocolates, amazingly efficient housekeeping all on top of a great room, FABULOUS bath tub, beautiful view... The Abalone house was one of my favs on my South Africa visit. It feels more like you're staying at your rich friends nice beach house rather than a "cold" hotel. The staff are warm and helpful. There is a walking path you can pick up right from the back of the guest house. Breakfast starts at 8, but we... More

Very enjoyable stay with a beautiful room overlooking the ocean. Excellent choice for breakfast. While we were aware that no staff were around after 8pm before we booked it did feel a bit strange with no-one around in the evening as when you returned from an evening meal in Hermanus there was no atmosphere as there were no guests around...
