Baleens was a comfortable overnight stay for my dogs and me. They made us welcome on a cold rainy night. It was good to walk into a room thoughtfully pre-warmed. I think that if I had stayed in one of the upstairs rooms this review would have been four star, but Room 2 can only be described as average, although...

We were meant to just stay one night but ended up staying for two. Rooms were very clean and well appointed. Coffee and tea facility was well stocked. I would have loved a bath but we knew when we booked that the room only had a shower. Our room had a lovely view with it's own balcony and we could...

We have just stayed at Baleens for the third time. Our room had a lovely view over the sea. The breakfasts were excellent and the manager, Nato, is one of those perpetually cheerful fellows who make you feel as if you are a part of the family and who cannot do enough for you. Undoubtedly this is the best place...

The room was comfortable and clean. The booking went smoothly. We had a lovely view from the room. Pity our stay was so short. We had an enjoyable breakfast before we left. Good value for money. Hope to be back soon. Steve and Beth de Bruin

We enjoy the the wonderful setting and friendliness of the owners, breakfast was really nice. This was a home from home. My boys enjoy the pool table and table tennis. The fireplace was something special. Very close to Grotto beach, really walking distance, nice surfing spot!

Most enjoyable stay in a room with a beautiful view over the lagoon and beach, Friendly staff, a hotel cat and a welcome fire in the fire place immediately makes you feel at home. The service was friendly and excellent and the room serviced every day with the tea, coffee and milk replenished.

This was our second time staying at Baleens, and it was great. The owner even put the football match on for us :-) Great place, we will definitely be back. Room was clean and neat, with everything we needed, and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

Really lovely hotel, on the outskirts of Hermanus, but still conveniently close to the centre. Rooms were spacious and well equipped with a lovely big bed and sea view, with a nice decor. It was very homely, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The Breakfast was great. An all round lovely visit, would recommend.

Fair value, not well maintained, Lack of maintenance in rooms, not difficult to find better value for same price. Kitchen terrible, rather eat somewhere else. Baleens is more Guesthouse than Hotel, is well located with good views, if you have sea-view room but is far from any activity
