The hostel is in a pretty decent location, near shops and restaurants. The staff are friendly (they are a bit sarcastic, I think that what upset some other reviewers). Rooms are decent and clean. However, I have stayed in better hostels. My only real issue was the noise of the bars. They are loud (your room will vibrate). There are...

We arrived at Once in Cape Town around midnight, and straight away we were made to feel welcome. A free breakfast was part of the deal, as was free pick up from the airport. We soon found out that the hostel offers a range of free activities through the week including a guided hike up Table Mountain, something I've always...

Awesome atmosphere - really great way to meet fellow travelers. Staff were incredibly friendly and even went out at night with them once or twice. If you're traveling alone or like to meet people, this is the best location you could pick with the cafe/bar attached to the front. Not the best place if you're hoping for some peace and...

Rude staff from check in, I get it's a hostel, but what a, useless idiot, no passion, would never have someone like that work for my company. 3 Times I had to ask for the Wifi whilst being dug out for my London accent.' Should. have. punched. the guy. aye.' 2100 rand I could have spent somewhere nearby but less...

Amazing location within walking distance from the bars and clubs on Long St. Breakfast features real coffee at the downstairs cafe which is a plus. Staff are lovely and super helpful and can organise all sorts of activities. Both mixed and female dorms available. Bar right next door is always full and great place for a drink but closes at...

Lets start from the positives : - youthful , helpful staff , - lively atmosphere , great place for socializing, - comfy beds - great location - lots of bars restaurants etc Negatives: - Rooms have no aircon (only inefficient ceiling fan ) so the sleep quality for those sensitive or sober can be poor , - Our room 116...

Great atmosphere, staff is amazing, good infrastructure and services. Just wifi signal is poor in the bedrooms, so you have to step downstairs to reception to use it. Once in Cape Town is definitely what backpacking is all about!

Shocking service from staff... unprofessional and not helpful.. have to ask for assistance more than 3times and people drag their feet to help. Breakfast was a shocker, ate it once throughout our stay. Carol did try to help and be helpful, but overall experience was disappointing. Will definitely not come back or recommend this establishment.

The staff and my stay were absolutely amazing! The rooms were clean, you have your own little "safe" which makes it easy for you to lock away valuable items (just make sure to bring a lock). Will definitely recommend this to anyone going to cape Town! Too bad I couldn't stay longer... Thanks Once!! I'll be back ;)

Once: The staff was very accommodating and helpful. The place was also very cheerful and i would definitely recommend anyone visiting Cape Town to stay there! Yours truly: The connected bar/cafe has a chill vibe and a great atmosphere and is worth a visit even if you aren't staying at Once.
