Stayed in this hotel for five nights in Cape Town. The V & A waterfront was within five minutes walk and the staff at the hotel couldnt do enough to ensure our stay was nothing but perfect. Excellent knowledge of table mountain and activities in the surrounding areas. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

My father would have loved this hotel – growing up we had oil paintings of ships everywhere in the house and I immediately thought of Dad. He would have spent hours looking at all the paintings, photos and historical facts hanging on all the walls in this hotel. It also helps that it has a fascinating history as well –...

This was our first hotel on a five week trip. It is in a good location 2 minutes walk to the V & A Waterfront. From the minute we arrived until we left the staff could not do enough for us. From reception to restaurant staff and porters. On the second morning the restaurant staff remembered what drinks we required...

The location is excellent. It was near the good restaurants and shops and the famous Table Mountain plus the V & A Waterfront and Acquarium. The arranged airport and hotel transfer were on time. Place is near the Hop On Hot Off bus services. Staff were responsive, cheerful and very helpful. Rooms were very clean. Towels and sheets were immaculately...

Stayed here with children and grandparents. The rooms were clean, tidy, comfy with TV, fridge and safe. We were on the front facing the main road but noise wasn't an issue. The staff were really helpful, the breakfast amazing (I don't think there was anything that wasn't on offer, the kids particularly liking the fruit, pancakes, waffles and endless sticky...

For our first stay in Cape Town (and Africa for that matter) the Portswood was absolutely perfect! The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the V&A and the red buses. The staff are friendly and helpful, the breakfast is generous and plentiful and the rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Will happily recommend to friends and family!

We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We had a nice room with good facilities. While there was no view from our room we did not mind as we were out most of the day and you can't see much at night. There was a nice...

We are very unhappy with the hotel reservation made by our travel agent and went looking for an alternative place to stay for the duration of our vacation. The folks at Portswood could not have been more gracious. They reconfigured a room into a king bed while we were at lunch. Their concierge made several dinner reservations based on our...

The Portswood hotel is located in the outskirts of the Waterfront area only a few minutes walk away from the water. The hotel is a little bit worn out (e.g. noisy AC) but have in general a friendly staff. The desk for supporting boat tour booking etc needs to to catch up. The breakfast buffet is not impressive neither is...

It seems churlish to be critical about the view. Our room was perfect, in that we had a suite with dining room and lounge, a large bedroom with a kingsize bed and an enormous bathroom. Everything working, clean and tidy, well serviced. The location is minutes from the V&A Waterfront, and the breakfasts were good. We also ate twice in...
