We stayed here during our trip through south africa for 5 nights. The location is prime as you are in walking distance to long street where the night life is pulsating. Also 3 supermarkets + a pharmacy are in walking distance. The only negative I would have is the showers that are not really hot and water pressure is improvable....

Friendly helpful staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Use of kitchen & lounge. Great central location with superb Table Mountain views from the terrace. Great price and value for money. Enjoyed meeting fellow guests from Uganda & Congo. Will visit again.

We stayed here twice during our stay in Cape Town and the stay was awesome. It felt very safe and very friendly and the staff (Bruce and Wayne) were incredibly helpful and knowledgable of the local area. It's also located in a nice part of town that is surrounded by a lot of new restaurants and bars that are definitely...

Amber Tree Backpackers was recommended to us by a friend when we arrived in Cape Town. After camping for two weeks, it was so nice to be able to relax in the living room and feel so comfy and at home. The dorms were nice, they could have had a bit more room but the beds were very comfy. Breakfast...

The location is good. The room and lounge area are nice, but there were a few weird things. For one, there were three of us, and they suggested we take in the baz bus from the airport for R350. When we left they said a taxi would be the better rate - for around R200. The arranged the taxi -...

Very nice location right next to busy Kloof Street. Friendly staff helping us with a lot of info as it was our first night in South Africa. The only pitfall was that we arranged with the hostel for an airport pick-up and we ended up not being on the list and thus had to take a taxi. Recommended.

I stayed at Amber Tree Lodge at the end of my 10 month cycling trip from the UK to South Africa. I'd heard about the place through word of mouth whilst I was in Zambia and booked to stay. Because of it's reputation, this is a very busy backpackers, booking in advance is a must. THe place is very clean,...

Fantastic location, with amazing views of Table Mountain from the first floor balcony and loads of bars and restaurants just a short walk away. It's cosy, clean and friendly. Staff were really helpful, letting us store bags for a few days, giving us directions, ringing taxis etc.
