Every day was a beautiful luxury experience. Excellent view, wicked delicious drinks, and meals. Great customer service and location. We enjoyed our two-night stayed The only thing that can be annoying is the kid's playground. Otherwise, we had an awesome experience.
We stayed here for one night while bridging into our long-awaited South Africa vacation and we can't say enough good things about it. The suite we were in was large and accommodating with a full kitchen. The rooftop bar provided great drinks and food, and a phenomenal atmosphere. I went up to the rooftop area for the views and atmosphere even when I wasn't going to the bar for a cocktail. We also opted to do a late check out for a very small and reasonable fee while we were bridging to another hotel which was incredibly convenient. This is also a short block walk to the oceanfront! Highly recommend!
There’s a lot of positive points about this hotel, and one negative which lost them a star. The staff are incredibly kind, friendly, helpful and pleasant. Nothing is too much trouble. We had a lovely room equipped with kitchen, oven, microwave, fridge plus all the necessary pots, pans crockery and cutlery etc. A nice sitting area and though no balcony the apartment attracted the afternoon sun and was really pleasant. Good sized bed and ceiling fan together with air on throughout. A functional bathroom, perhaps a little tired and a powerful shower. Note to hotel, a hand held shower is very handy and would have liked one here. The room was cleaned daily with fresh towels on request. Also there was free parking in the basement. The negative point. Included in our stay was a full buffet breakfast. Indeed, we had this on the first morning of our stay. A great breakfast with everything that one could require. Hot cooked selection, nice selection of cheeses, fruit, yoghurts, breads etc. It was just the job. We were told when we arrived that they had a group booked into the hotel that would require the dining area for themselves with their own special dietary requirements. The other hotel guests could not enter this area, and were told that we could choose anything from the a la carte menu and this would be made fresh. They were trying to be helpful. The problem was that when there’s a buffet one can go as often as one wishes without a problem. We definitely felt that we had been short-changed and that it seemed obvious that the group booking took priority. This is a clear message to the management. If a client has paid for a particular service then that client should get what they expect. Not a lame excuse to say that there was under occupancy (ie that those not in the group were small in number) to warrant putting the regular breakfast out. I am waiting to speak to the management about this.…
Overall fantastic hotel for a short stay. Rooms were very spacious and modern, pool on the roof was small but adequate. The breakfast was fantastic with added bonus of mimosas, which started our day off perfectly. Staff at reception and around the hotel were very welcoming and accommodating. Kids play area was a great addition. Only downside was we paid for full board, however staff were unfamiliar with what this included. The hotel stay overall, was fantastic and would certainly return!
There are a variety of apart-hotels to choose from in Cape Town. But my partner and I keep going back to The Hyde. The people go out of their way to make you feel at home. The rooms are tasteful without being ostentatious. The location is brilliant for the sea front and shopping. And besides a nice pool on the roof, the kitchen produces some very good dishes. Highly recommended.
Excellent hotel. Service at the front desk was spectacular. The room was very comfortable. The only drawbacks were that we booked through booking.com which meant that ours was a corner room beside the elevator and the stairs up to the Sky rooftop restaurant which means that it was noisy at times. I would recommend this hotel as a good option! By the way, I would also recommend the Mykonos Restaurant just up the street.
Leonard is one of the best bartenders I’ve found in all of my travels. Great personality and even better espresso martinis. Would come back just to have more drinks with him. The rooftop bar is A+ And the food is great.
Good location and the views from the rooftop bar are excellent. Lots of lovely restaurants in walking distance and it’s a short walk from the hop on hop off bus. Rooms were spacious with big windows with nice views. It is a little tired and outdated, the real thing doesn’t reflect the photos which look excellent
After a lovely walk on the Promenade, my husband and I decided to grab a bite at the Hyde Restaurant, what a great decision! Their hot drinks are amazing and the seafood was super tasty. Our waiter Octavia truly knows what good service is about, it's been awhile since I've met someone in the food industry with such passion. Octavia is a real asset to the Hyde Hotel. The entire restaurant is beautiful and we love the play area, we'll definitely be back!
Ideal location close to V&A waterfront and easy access to different locations by local transportation. The concierge can arrange for your pick up and drop by taxi on request. Has excellent restaurants and good convenience store like Woolworths Foodstop on Main Road, all within 3 minutes walk from the hotel. We enjoyed our meals at the Italian Restaurant -Ristorante Posticino, on Main Road. Very helpful and friendly staff at the Hyde All Suites. The Beach Road on which this hotel is situated makes a lovely walk in the mornings and evenings. Very safe location and nothing to worry about , other than a minor nuisance of the sea birds that flock to an abandoned hotel which is just next to the hotel.
