Much is made of camping in the bush. You hear sounds better, you feel more excited because you are less protected, tents in the African bush place the rush of city and job further away than if you were behind walls. Tamboti satellite camp gives you there 'extras' in Kruger without the hassle of putting up your own tent. Ablutions...

The Kruger National Park is beautiful. The bush, the wildlife all wonderful. But the bestest best way to enjoy it is to sleep in a comfortably equipped tent .... it just feels right! You have everything you need, or would have in a cement room, but the birds sound sweeter, the night noises louder and you wake up feeling thoroughly...

Stayed in December for several nights and highly recommend the experience. Very quiet. Facilities very clean. Everything you need for an 'easy' camp in the bush. Take only your food, drinks, crockery and cutlery. Perfect escape!

Camp is our favorite in kruger park. You will have honey badgers raiding camp which I don't mind because we were prepared for it. Did see some animals from deck as well which is an added bonus. Tent can be very cold in winter but there is nothing better than the luxury tents. Will go back every time.

Tamboti has the balance of absolute serenity and absolute chaos all mixed into one! Sitting around the braai could result in a quiet night with owls calling in the background, followed by scavenging honey-badgers or genets passing right by, and back to silence again. It's magic.

This was our second visit to the Tamboti tented campsite. The first was over 10 years ago. Then the tents were new and in great shape, but we readily noticed that they have seen their days. However, our evening was just as fantastic in this tented camp. The tent is built on stilts and elevated from the river bed which...

This camp was fantastic and I would stay here again in a heartbeat. We were in tent space 3. Our tent was a stilted tent with hardwood floors. There was a covered patio where we were able to have lunch and dinner. Directly across from our tent was a dry riverbed where a family of baboons would come out at...

This is a fabulously remote camp, a satellite of the larger Orpen Camp. You feel genuinely remote here as each tent is snug within it's own part of the bush and you can hardly hear/see neighbours. Amazing views over the dry river bed where the tracks could tell a thousand tales. Nightly visits from a pair of honey badgers was...

The camp have both 2 & 4 sleeper permanent tents structures with fridges to keep all you food chilled. The camp is very private and you can't even see your neighbours because all the tens are surrounded by natural African bushes. This make the camp vey unique because you're surrounded by nature the way it would have been like a 100...

Spent a wonderful night in tamboti during our stay in Kruger. The camp is laid out in a way which makes you feel like you are deep in the bush, a really magical feeling to this place. The night noises were thrilling! The tents are rustic, clean, basic but comfortable with a large veranda. Abolition blocks were clean with plenty...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Tamboti tented camp is a small camp situated on the banks of the Timbavati River, on the western boundary of the Kruger National Park, approximately 2km east of Orpen Rest Camp. Due to the size and location of this camp, Tamboti is one of the most popular camps in the Park. A great feature is a boma, which makes it ideal for small groups of people to gather around the campfire and relive the animal sightings of the day. For the birding enthusiasts, Tamboti offers a bird hide in which to spend hours looking for that exclusive raptor that has up to now eluded you. The natural bush feeling is kept inside the camp, which has the result of emphasizing guest privacy. ... more   less
