We stayed in a 3-bedroom chalet with family. Nice house, with decent views over the dam. It had a functional kitchen and a nice lounge area with DSTV. We could see/hear the hippos and crocs from our spacious veranda – really a great experience. The food at the restaurant was good and there is a nice walking track that goes...

We had n world class experience at Mopani Rest Camp in Kruger National Park. The facilities were of outstanding quality, very neat and the staff were very friendly and professional. All evidence of quality management. View from the restaurant deck is breathtaking, contributing to a atmosphere of peace and tranquility. Thank you Abel for a memorable experience with you and...

Very nice setting, comfortable facilities and peace and quiet. Just what we needed to have a nice rustic getaway with the family. The setting near the dam is great! So is the lookout points, shop and restaurant. Consider some advise - maybe a bit bigger braai facility for the 6 bed units?? Anyway, you'll definitely see us again!

We have stayed in all of Kruger's camps over the years. It is hard to beat a super neat, spacious Mopani rondawel/chalet overlooking the Pioneerdam, with your own braaiarea surrounded by the indigenous bush and a myriad colourful birds flitting about. There is ample space to walk in this camp and the pristine swimmingpool area is such a pleasure that we actually...

We had a wonderful stay at this camp. One of the last camps built in the park. All of the sandstone bungalows are built to fit into the natural bush in the rest camp, almost giving the impression that you are alone in the bush. The camp itself is built on a hill above Pioneer Dam. The restaurant and shop...

We stayed in a 6 sleeper. All was great. Everything worked. Restaurant had a great view but the food was a let down. Had steaks that the steak knife struggled with. Only 2 waiters and the place was half full. They tried hard but couldn't cope. Hope Mug and Bean come to this camp too.

Mopani camp is in the northern half of the Kruger National Park and is one of the newer camps, named after the ubiquitous mopane shrub found in this part of the park. Unlike the other camps with their carefully manicured grounds and neat rondavels set in circles or rows, Mopani cottages are set in amongst the mopane shrub with long...

Basic camp but very nice view, quiet and good food at the restaurant where you should eat outside. Inside looks like a cafeteria. Ok for stopover. Pool is big and clean. We had a family bungalow with terrace and nice view on the river and crocodiles, hippopotamus, birds, water Buck ...need binoculars!

Spent 3 nights here in November. My room, although a bit of a walk from where you park your vehicle, offered an exception view of the lake. When sitting out on the porch, the only thing I could see was the water. Excellent. Room was standard Sanparks units, clean, a bit worn but very functional and an excellent value for...

The unit was ill equipped. Not to the standard as the other camps in the park. Blankets were filthy, toilet was hideous, shower was not functioning properly. Bar service was non existent. The lower lookout viewing area was absolutely filthy. Really a disappointing visit.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
On the banks of the Pioneer Dam in the Kruger National Park, lies it's best kept secret. Named after the mopane veld that surrounds the camp, Mopani Rest Camp nestles amongst the Mopani tree covered koppies. A signature feature is the huge gnarled old baobab tree in the heart of the camp. The vegetation inside the camp is left as found in the wild, adding to the unique atmosphere of the camp. ... more   less
