Firstly I don't think they should hold 3 star. Let's start with the positives. Beautiful reception area. Ladies at front desk are friendly, staff in general are pleasant. Rooms are not bad. Not the biggest or most modern but that's completely acceptable. Room was neat and clean. So why the poor review ..... let's move onto the negatives. For the...

We only stayed 1 night, Sunday evening. Although arriving after 22:00, the staff were still very friendly and helpful, even assisted carrying my luggage. The room is modern and comfortable. Lobby and room was clean and neat. Decor in hotel very elegant with beautiful cladding on walls in lobby. Not noisy as other reviewers described. Parking is free and safe....

The hotel is gorgeous. Bedrooms are clean. Staff is attentive, friendly, helpful and quick to respond to any issues. The food at the hotel is delicious. They have a variety. I recommend all to stay here. They provide cape velvet as welcome drink.

Every time I am at Empangeni for business, I stay at this hotel. I have come to realize that it is not impressive as the other Protea hotels I stayed in before. For starters, the structural design isn't exciting and the rooms are rather small. On the plus side, the rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. The food...

Check-in was not good, but check-out was good. Generally staff members were friendly and treated guests with courtesy. The front hotel grounds looked good and welcoming but the views from the back grounds of the hotel were appalling. There were no dustbins around the parking area and we had to throw away the rubbish in the room. Parking was free....

The hotel is deserving of its mostly average rating, with the restaurant leaning more towards poor. Check in and booking is a bit of a fuss and although the rooms are neat they are stuffy and smell of smoke. Beds are a bit worn through. The food is not great and it's probably best to find another restaurant in town....

Went for a business lunch with my business partners to discuss a new venture so we were only on the restaurant. Nice quiet environment, overall service was good but the oxtail I had was swimming in oil which really put me off I must say and spoiled an otherwise good afternoon.

The rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The rates are very reasonable. They have family rooms, but no children facilities. No kiddies channels on TV, no children play areas. Housekeeping service and maintenance can really improve, flowers placed in bathrooms have toothpaste marks, basin drain stopper got stuck ( we could not drain the water from the basin), toilet wasn't...

Average hotel. Rooms are very small but neat. Staff are friendly. Dinner buffet selection was the smallest that I've ever seen and wasn't very good either. There is plenty of secure parking. I would stay here again but probably eat at one of the take aways close by.

The few reasons as to why this hotel gets an average are : 1. the shower was either boiling hot or scorching hot! 2. rooms are small but adequate 3. tv was an old box tv and had two channels 4. not many food options for vegetarians Check in was smooth and so was check out. The front desk ladies...
