Very nice place. Excellent staff service. Good breakfast, wonderful pool and garden. Nice rooms. Silence is gold here. I loved! Stays only about three kilometers from the beach. It is easy to rent a bike in the neighborhood.

Had a very relaxing time at Gibelas, we had our room upgraded for free as it wasn’t very busy which was lovely. It’s in a good location, walking distance of most things you want. The owner was very helpful with all our needs and the...More

Many thanx for taking the time to write a review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Definately not a party venue but the party is only 5 min walk away. We rather ensure a good sleep, quiet surroundings and as you said relaxing...More

Very clean and nice looking place with lots of attention paid to details. The location is good too. Very quiet (too quiet) when I stayed there. Disadvantage is that the older man that works there, is not always available, which can be quite inconvenient if...More

Not sure who the old man was you referring to. Looking at your check in form you were in your 40's so not sure what old is. As a rule our reception closes at 20H00 so it is advisable to ensure that you get your...More

Some people are just not made to travel - no definition of time. We are a 10 min taxi ride or a 45 min walk from bus station. No idea why it took the 5 hours to get to us. Also the wedding they attended...More

About
Description
TOP CHOICE - Lonely Planet 2012 "If this hostel (a tastefully converted 1950's Tuscan home) were a B&B, it would be described as 'boutique'. One of Durban's best hostels, it has sparkling surfaces and rooms neat More enough to pass an army major's inspection. It even provides a continental breakfast- to be enjoyed in an attractive indoor-outdoor dining area." Gibela is conveniently located in the safe, residential area of Morningside and within walking distance to the center of Durban’s entertainment life, Florida Road, where there are restaurants, cocktail bars, clubs and coffee shops galore.
