This accommodation is very different to anywhere we have stayed before. Each room is quirky and with such high ceilings you get a real sense of space. Views are fantastic. Brenda looked after us so well.Location was great for us and we could get cabs cheaply to places we needed to go.

This is one of the most beautiful hotels I've stayed at, but of course such things are subjective. It was elegant, interesting, cozy, homey and relaxing - the hotel was built in bits, making it appear haphazard but every corner & staircase made me want to explore! I loved spending time by the pool, even though it was winter, because... More

This was one of the best places I have been to. It is like living in a fairy tale. Everybody is friendly and we felt like at home - we could even do a "braai" in the "castle" permises. Lovely, just perfect. Breakfast was delicious and generous. It certainly worth the money - we even got an upgrade to a... More

Booking: got a last minute room for less than half the price of the Holiday Inn Sandton. Room With a View is a hip and beautiful place to stay as in "if you only can stay one place in Johannesburg..." stay here! Its in an old mansion type building with some of the best views of downtown (free too)! Staff:... More

The Room with a View took a bit of finding in the dark as the signposting in Jo Burg is not great. The whole place is a most eccentric design with columns all over the place and windows in odd places, whether you like it or not you certainly won't forget staying here. For a city it is quite quiet... More

I stayed here at the end of a six week trip and found it to be the perfect place to unwind before the long haul back to Australia. I had one of the main rooms on the top floor and found everything to be terrific. Great location, excellent, helpful and friendly staff, terrific breakfast, good security and a great location... This is an ecclectic, urban castle of a guest house with many charming details: vaulted ceilings, columns, lovely tiled bathrooms, etc., and its breakfast is awesome. I came for a repeat stay because I had enjoyed it one winter a few years ago although the rooms are not heated and do not all have fire places, so it was chilly.... More

Upon arriving at this castle-like accommodation in Johannesburg, we were shown our room and the breakfast room and then left on our own to explore the hotel. We discovered a pool, caged exotic birds, a balcony/smoking room and that our hotel was attached to a private residence. Needless to say, it would have been much more welcoming to have had... More

We stayed here at the end of 2002 and just loved the warm and tranquil atmosphere. It felt like we were in Tuscany! Staff was friendly and breakfast was absolutely wonderful with fresh fruit sallad, etc. Good location, close to many restaurants. We felt very safe walking around the area.
