We were dissapointed, pool was green, we asked for a room with a bath (did not get it), far from the beach and just overall did not live up to expectation based on photo's and discription on web. The staff running it where very helpfull, but seemed to live in fear of the owner.

Utterly incompetent staff running the place, unnecessarily bureaucratic checking in procedures, front door that didn't lock, pool too dirty to swim in and meagre badly-presented breakfast. When I raised these points with the managers, they were rude aggressive and totally unwilling to be held accountable. This was a total rip off and I would never again stay in a Whale... More

The guest house itself is not great - doors don't lock, most notably the front door, the pool was green, the air conditioner was broken. Do not be fooled by the website either the house is VERY FAR from the main beach and town and you have a glimpse of the sea from your room- to say the rooms are... More

We booked for two nights but we escaped from Plattenbergbay and the Whale cottage. We didn't like it at all. Obviously the second night was charged and paid already. No one inside the house a part from the girl who prepared the breakfast, we were the only guests, also at night. Breakfast where fruit already became brown - looked not... More

we only stayed 1 night as we was working our way around the garden route, from the outside its deceiving, once inside it is so well done out that you wish you had a home just like it, outside pool, great view as well, if you go to plett bay, it is well worth the money to stay there.

Whale Cottage has everything you could ask for in a bed and breakfast; a beautiful setting, inspired rooms and friendly staff. Above all else, what makes Whale Cottage (Plettenberg) such a desirable guest house is its real sense of homeliness, a feeling which grabs you as soon as you arrive. This is primarily down to the lovely Eric (the amiable... More

The brand new Whale Cottage in Plettenberg Bay is Awesome!!! We have stayed at numerous B&B's/ Guesthouses in South Africa, but Whale Cottage in Plett is definately a cut above the rest. If you want the best room in Plett, then book the Whale Room. It is fabulous! Manageress Marie-louise and her staff are great. Nothing is too much for... More
