As a budget lodge, this property met all my needs for amenities, safety, cleanliness, comfort. convenience and an incredible view of Denali. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. Food is good and the gift shop is a nice touch. I traveled solo and felt safe here. Location-wise, it's about 1/2 way between Anchorage and Denali. Highly recommend for the budget-conscious...

This was a convenient place at which to stop for both breakfast and lunch. The place got busier when coach parties came by for a combined rest room and gift shop stop. Food and drinks were Average but it is quite a distance from other roadside places that it worth bearing in mind

This is a great place to stop for a bite or stay the night. It has good food and real Alaskan charm. Jean, Mary Carey's daughter is friendly and has many amazing stories from her moms homesteading days. She is a delight to talk with and has a unique gift store with items actually made in Alaskan. On top of...

Mary Cary is who built this lodge. She fought to get the highway in because she wanted to share her view. The food is good. The gift shop is great. If you want a souvenir that is different this is your place. Everything in the store is made locally by someone that Mary Cary's daughter Joe knows. Mary had wrote...

Stopped by on way to Denali. View from the deck was amazing. Weather was cooperating and a clear view of Mount McKinley/Denali. You should definitely try the pastries and the baked goods. The owner was very hospitable and gave a great presentation on the history of the area and the highway. Make sure you stop by and say Hi

It would be easy to miss this little gem with a friendly owner, excellent food, with rates that are far different from the ones you'll find 30 miles down the road: Cost: $100.00 per night plus 5% room tax and with special rates of $50.00 a night until Memorial Day and $79.00 per night in June. The web site has...

My friend and I wanted to stop on our way from Denali to Anchorage for a snack break. We remembered seeing this place on the way up and decided to stop. Boy, are we glad we did! We enjoyed a delicious and reasonably priced salad and basket of fries in the cafe, and the waitress fixed me up with a...

Buyer beware... I called to cancel a labor day weekend reservation made for my employer on the Tuesday prior to that weekend. Spoke to a younger woman and repeatedly told her that I was cancelling my entire reservation for that weekend. She simply replied, "Ok." I made certain to ask her if that was it/all that was required and to...

Make sure you get a cancellation number and the name of the person you spoke when cancelling. This establishment could not provide copy of their policy and told me that they would be happy to read it to me (Kinda made me laugh). They do have a website but did not have it posted and could not fax it to...

We happened by this place going from Denali to Girdwood, looking for breakfast. I think we spent two delightful hours there. The breakfast was good, the cafe clean and interestingly furnished from local trees. Our waitress was very good. But the main attraction was the little gift shop filled with unusual items handmade by the locals. And of course the...
