First impression was so so, our room was quite small and basic with shared bathroom facilities, but then the fun began. You walk through to the house like lounge, dining and then bakery areas and it just oozes character. It was interesting reading of the history behind the building and it still has a real sense of charm. The food...

We stayed in Trapper John's Cabin and it was great - quiet. We we ate at the various places in town. The cabin is equipped with everything except your groceries and there is a small grocery store in town. The only thing I would change is that they put a curtain on the back door and in the kitchen window...

Stayed in the Museum apartment which is off of the main street so it was quiet. Has great amount of room and was close to the action. Comes with complimentary tour of local museum which is a nice perk.

Roadhouse staff were super friendly and helpful. We checked in after 4 days of camping at Denali and were in desperate need of showers. We walked into our bunk room, which is right off the main living room, to find towels and wash cloths waiting for us on clean beds. The showers were great and had bathgel and shampoo. We...

Just loved the atmosphere, the homely ambience the minute we walked in the door. We stayed in room 2 and although we shared a bathroom (next door) the room had a sink. Comfortable bed and the room and bathrooms were spotless. The breakfast was heartly and extremely popular. There are always queues for breakfast and also for the on site...

The Talkeetna roadhouse is unique with good atmosphere. The rooms share bathrooms but never a problem and does not matter. We stayed in room no 3. The food is great and prices are reasonable. Great place to stay. J

The Roadhouse, located in the center of Talkeetna, offers large portions of hearty breakfast food. Their world famous Razzies (raspberry sweet rolls are to die for also). Memorabilia hangs on the wall from those that have climbed Denali Mountain and stayed at the Roadhouse to recover. We stayed both in an interior rustic room, very small, quaint old-time feel (complete...

Thank you so much for sharing your Roadhouse experience! Memorial Day weekend is generally the busiest of the year - and it's early in the season when we are still welcoming new staff and waking up from a long winter. This year seemed as busy as ever but much more fun overall... and it sounds like you and your family...

Met off the train and whisked into the bustling heat of Talkeetna. Stayed in room 2 which had a sink and lashings of hot water. Also right next to the spotless showers. We stayed two nights and had a lovely Cosey time. The staff were very friendly and the food was yummy. We are so glad we stayed in the...

Cozy and comfortable, Trisha who owns the place and her staff make one feel right at home. Great home cooked meals, breakfasts especially. Bring an appetite for those! From the cozy common areas with couches and tables, games for the kids, nooks, and fireplaces, It is like being in the living room of Talkeetna. There is the sense of history,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Roadhouse, built around 1917, is one of the oldest establishments still in operation on Main Street in "Beautiful Downtown Talkeetna." Our kitchen is open to the public and we've become famous for big breakfasts, hearty soups, homebaked breads and genuine frontier hospitality. Our bakery produces all sorts of treats each day such as pies, a variety of cinnamon rolls, cookies, cakes, brownies, and savory pasties. The historic end-of-the-road town of Talkeetna is known today throughout the world as the base for international climbers making their way to climb Denali (Mt. McKinley), North America's tallest peak. Denali and the other peaks of the Alaska Range offer a magnificent backdrop for this picturesque town of around 800 people, located about two and a half hours north of Anchorage and halfway between Anchorage and Denali park entrance both by rail and road. The guest rooms range from private to hostel-style, rustic cabins to the school teacher's apartment located above the Talkeetna Historical Society Museum. Bathrooms are "down the hall" in typical Roadhouse fashion, and even though a bathroom has been added to Trapper John's Cabin, guests can still use its 5-Star outhouse! Breakfast is a separate charge but we provide our guests with coffee/cocoa/tea throughout their stay. ... more   less
