Never book the bus ticket to Dien Bien Phu with “Sapa Hotel Travel” She (only woman speak english) sell ticket bus to Bien Dien Phu at 300.000 VND. But, only the one in the night is really a bus, if you want travel in the morning only have small bus. She lied to us, it was never a bus. The problem, there are 2 types: mini van and mini bus, make sure to ask in OTHER HOTEL what it is, because if you booking with “Sapa Travel Hotel” you will travel at mini van with many local people, and you as western foreigner will have the worst seat: BACKSEAT The price from Dien Bien Phu to Sapa in mini bus is 227.000 VND at 230.000 VND for the morning travel. Unfortunately Sapa dont have bus station, i think you always will pay more. Never book the ticket with “Sapa Travel Hotel”, because will go the worse mini van, the driver stop in the middle of road for people to pee in the bushes, but we were very close to the city. Also the driver is smoking the whole journey. Also i saw that local people pay 80.000 VND, although they down 50 km before.…
We choose this hotel randomly, booked two private room and rented a motorbike. Before 6am the other guest of the hotel, who are all locals, started making a lot of noise, yelling to each other from one floor to another, letting their children run and scream in the stairs, the staff absolutly didnt care about it. We decided to leave, I tried to go on the motorbike to find a nicer place : bike won't start. I told them I didnt wanted to pay for it as we paid for a full tank of gasoline (80 000 dong) which we couldnt use anymore. After explaining that no, I will not siphon the motorbike to put 4 letter of gasoline in a bottle and walk around town with it, I still paid for half the price. Now they're just gonna save the petrol for themselves and rent this unusable bike to the next unlucky backpackers. The people at the reception do not speak english, every time you need something they go and call someone for you, you need to wait 10 minutes for every information. Just dont go there…
The hotel is not were is it in Google maps or maps.me. It is 300m more up the road. We arrived by bus at 5am and we mailed the staff before to notify them of that issue. Nevertheless when we arrivzd the door was closed, we did ring the bell few things but nobody opened until 6:15am. Then they asked us to pay half a night because of the early check-in. We had to negociate to have half a breakfast free because normally rate includes the breakfast. The room was OK with a comfortale heating bed. A heating bed is a must have in Sapa. But the bathroom was dirty and really really smelly because of the dried urine on the loo. It smelled so badly that you couldn't take a shower... So we asked them to clean it, they said yes but never did. We had a nap and finally we decided not to stay because of the weather forecast in the area. The staff was really friendly and booked a bus ticket for us. At the end we staid 12h in the room (6.15am, 6.15pm) with a unusable bathroom and had to pay the night and half a breakfast...…
I arrive at 7 AM and got immediately a room. I had the choice between valley view and 'city' view. The former was noisy because of nearby construction. The staff was nice and did his best to accommodate my wishes. Room was good for two, bath tub with hot water, clean bath room, good wireless. A unpretentious place that offers a decent service a budget prices.
Quiet side of Sapa town which is really noisy in general due to construction works. The 4-bed dorm room was spacious and clean! Hot water works wonderfully. Will recommend for a cheap stay. Also, the restaurant next door sells delicious homemade food! Enjoyed my stay :)
