Hoa was very welcoming. Hoa is by far the kindest person we have met on our trip to Vietnam. She helped us with everything. She and her husband was always smiling, and made us feel at home right away. Hoa advised us on good treks, and even arranged a bus for us. We had a lovely dinner with her and her sweet family. This place has the most incredible view to the mountains and rice terraces. The breakfast was very delicious. If you are going to Sapa, this is the place to stay. Hoa’s place is so much nicer than living in the city of Sapa. It is hard to fathom how beautiful the view is. Hoa is excellent in english.
First visit for me and my son but 6th for my daughter and grandchildren.Welcoming, friendly staff good local knowledge and able to sort out any taxi, motor cycle ride or trekking trip.In the heart of the villages a truly amazing experience.Food wonderful and entertaining dinners with Happy water rice wine.Hoa and Hannah and the rest of the team really do look after you as one of the family.
My husband And I stayed at Hoa’s for 3 nights and loved it. We stayed in a double room which had a private bathroom and was everything we needed. The heating blanket was great because it was very cold when we were there. We ate traditional Vietnamese food each night with Hoa, her husband Hiep and some more family. The food was fantastic and we drank lots of rice wine! It is basically a table full of food and unlimited rice wine for 150,000 per person which is very reasonable considering how much we ate and drank. We learned a lot from Hoa about life in Sapa and what it has been like for her living there. Would highly recommend this homestay! They have a cute puppy and very friendly cat as well which we enjoyed.
I stayed with Hoa and her family for 3-4 nights over Christmas. This was, by far, the BEST lodging experience of our entire month-long trip. Hoa and her family did everything in their power to make us feel like family. They directed us to the Must See points of interest, hooked us up with transfers to and from the train and scooters while we were there. They turned us on to great restaurants, and provided us with cheap meals and drink. On Christmas Day, her whole staff made a HUGE Barbeque, with regional rice wine, endless toasts of goodwill and sincere cheer, and with so many different kinds of meat we lost track! They had a Christmas tree for us and played Christmas music all day long. But this is still not touching what made this stay so remarkable. It was the open hearted love—pure love—that Hoa showed to all of her guests. She talked to us in deep and meaningful ways about her life, her family and history, her experience as a woman in Vietnam, about Chinese kidnappings and how they have affected her village, and so much more. While we were there she took a HUGE supply of rice, school books, clothing and essentials she collects year around to supply a remote isolated village, and shared stories from that trek with us in the evening, along with the pictures of the joyous faces of children who have so little. Hoa, I will always be grateful for the deep impression you made and the memories you created for myself and daughter. On another note, please be careful when booking Homestays! Many we saw in Sapa are down deep ravines or high atop mountains! I visited one and had to find a scooter to get me back up the mountain! Many hosts do not speak any English and I saw a few unhappy travelers. Hoa’s is outside of Sapa City, so it is a village experience. It is right off the main road, easy to navigate by scooter, and about 15-20 minutes by scooter over dirt roads, to the city of Sapa. You will not be going out at night from here, or any of the villages, but evenings are better spent anyway in the company of the other guests from around the world, immersed in conversation and pleasant company!…
I arrived at Hoa's as a solo traveler, but the homestay's environment was so welcoming and friendly that I never felt lonely. I originally booked the dorm room, but she offered to let me upgrade to a private room as there were very few travelers. I stayed 3 nights. I will briefly describe both kinds of rooms, since I saw them: Dorm: many mattresses right next to each other in the attic space of the house. Each has a mosquito net and looks quite comfortable. However, I didn't see a lot of outlets and privacy is 0. Bathroom is on bottom floor. Private room: full bed and private bathroom/shower. No heating, but there is an electric blanket. My fan didn't work, but I didn't need it. What I enjoyed: Great location. Half an hour taxi from Sapa town, easy to find, close to the river for a beautiful view. Family dinner is so lovely. We sat with the entire family, eating truly tasty homemade food (thank you Hue and Ling!). You do shots of homemade rice/apple/plum wine, learning very well to say cheers in Vietnamese. They accommodated my being vegetarian with no problem. Breakfast was also very nice (see picture). In general, Hoa and her family are always eager to help whether it be ordering a taxi, booking a local guide for a tour or giving advice on where to go. What could be improved: the shower in my room wasn't in great condition. The hose was very leaky and as a result, a small amount of water actually came out of the shower head. I did not complain because it didn't bother me, but I'm sure they would have promptly dealt with it had I brought it up. Overall, I really recommend this wonderful accomodation for anyone who is visiting the Sapa area!…
