This was our favourite experience in Vietnam. We booked a two day cycle tour in Sapa through Viator. Unfortunately with a slow return from lockdowns etc. bikes were deemed unsafe. But the travel agent (Luan from Local Tours Vietnam) was quick to communicate this through and had a back up offer of a motorcycle tour. We had booked an overnight train from Hanoi to Sapa and Luan organised transport from the train station to the Homestay. We spent two days with Su and in her homestay. Su and her family made us feel so welcome and the Homestay was beautiful. Our room was lovely and clean with a beautiful view of the family's rice terrace. We spent the first day on a scooter touring Ta Van Village and other local villages visiting other tribes. Su told us so much about the area and the people who live there. We stopped for lunch and Su was happy to take plenty of pictures for us. Su also made sure we were always safe on the scooters too. Su made us dinner that night with other visitors and her family. Such a lovely experience. Unfortunately the weather was not on our side the second day. With heavy rain we had a late start and Su offered a trek instead of scooters. With the thick fog, it didn't allow for fantastic views but the scenery was still great. We trekked to other villages and through rice terraces. We had such a great time with Su - who is an amazing host. It's a must do!!…
Our tour guide (ZaaZaa Trekking) arranged the homestay for us during our two day trek. The home was lovely and the views were outstanding. Whilst some of the family do not speak English, Su (the mother) had a good level of English which made it easy to communicate. In the evening, they had prepared a delicious meal including rice which was grown locally. The room was much comfier than we had expected, along with a hot shower, plug sockets and mosquito nets around the beds. We had a good night's sleep after a day of Trekking and it was a lovely view to wake up to!
Lovely people, beautiful view of the fields and overall, a very homely homestay. Hosts were gracious and welcoming, and the food was excellent. Highly recommend to anyone in Sapa to stay here. Thank you so much!
I spent three nights at this beautiful homestay. The family is so hospitable and friendly and made it a truly memorable experience. They arranged some amazing treks which were a highlight of my trip to Vietnam. The room and facilities were very clean and comfortable and the food is excellent. I would recommend this in a heartbeat and honestly can say this one of my best experiences in Vietnam !
Not many places these days that you can "check out", and just feel happy and peaceful. To be fair, I think even SAPA town is chaotic, and so just down the road and across the river, Sue's homestay is exactly what you or anyone needs. Wholesome and authentic, Sue's homestay is genuine Hmong (not contrived or marketed like some others). You're surrounded by her family and you can see and still get genuine handmade crafts made by Sue and or her Mom. When you see it first hand you appreciate immediately the work and you can distinguish it to other stuff. Sue is proud of her heritage and also the other tribes and enthusiastically takes you on guided walks across and through all the other neighbouring tribes. The scenery is breath taking and time just beautifully stands still. I will say, SAPA is "developing" fast or too fast. Locals aren't appreciating their environment and there is far too much neglect and waste around. Too much rubbish. SAPA is in many ways about nature and the environment and all of SAPA need to know that if they don't preserve, protect, and ensure a "Clean SAPA" then there will be nothing special here. …
