Firstly i must say that in general temae is lovely...especially the golf course to walk through :) nice to hear the sea...however the lodge itself is next to a very rocky beach covered in debris (it would be nice if they would clean it up a bit) too rough to go in the water even if you could brave the rocks. Temae beach is 15/20 walk away but please beware dogs of the properties you walk past...take so big sticks as people are attacked. This side of the island is more quiet and less touristy....maharepa (the town centre is a 10 min drive away) the area is quite a nice one and the beaches relatively quiet...just dont stay here!lol! The bungalows themselves look quite pleasant from outside...BUT dont let that fool you!!! Inside is so old and run down. Dec is 79's complete with orange plastic chairs. The fan was broken and the aircon sounded like a helicopter next to the bed!!! Also it was very damp and mouldy. In the days we stayed we started to feel unwell and had a small baby with us due to the damp stinky air pumped out by the aircon...obviously never had the filters cleaned ( that should be done regularly) we arent particularly health conscious people but know enough to know that balck mould in aircon units can make babies and adults very ill!!! The bathroom mirror...well we couldnt see anything in it...and the windows were so rusty and stuck open so we couldnt shut out mosquitos! :( there is no oven and no proper plates or glasses...just some tacky plastic ones.the freezer also didnt freeze!!! We were going to put up with the bad bungalow as so much effort to move with the baby and no car...BUT the lady that ran it never smiled at us once...and became so scary and unpleasant . We had planned to stay 2 weeks but we left early one morning after a few days and disnt even TRY to get our money! She would look in our windows to make sure we were obeying rules. We were only allowed to eat at teh kitche table. She caught my husband eating in the couch through the window and a the baby eating a rice cake in the bedroom from peering in. We had to open all windows if we cooked anything at all...which meant letting all the mosquitoes in at night. She somehow knew when we may cook and came to hassle us. We werent allowe to hang our wet clothes on the chairs outside to dry. Even though there was cleaning included from the start she demanded we clean to the best of our ability or she would throw us out. She would call me aside and not say anything to my husband as knew he wouldnt put up with it. The last straw was her going through our rubbish and told me i cant put coconut in the bin and there was a battery in our rubbish which was unacceptable . she was looking in the house what seemed every few minutes and said we had to keep the bedroom doors shut to use the aircon( was like a sauna in the main room so best to leave the doors open so the bedroom aircon can cool the other room a little) DONT stay here...if you want to stay in temae go to the green lodge a few doors down...very pleasant property and lovely staff. Also we highly recommend sunset beach residence next to les tipanieres hotel (also a nice optionh Lovely properties right on a perfect lagoon that dreams are made of!!! Dont miss lagoonarium and horse riding in the opunu valley...just 5000 xpf. Snack mahaha is great for local food :) x

Spend year-end holiday at Bungalow Mangareva - just in few meters away from the beach/coastline. The bungalow had big terrace with great view of Ocean and Tahiti island. It has all the equipment for cooking so we had our own prepared food. Rooms were rather tired but comfortable to sleep in. One of the nicest thing is that you hear the sound of the waves from the room through out the night which is very relaxing and peaceful.

Two bedroom bungalow right on the beach with great sunrise and Tahiti views. The beach is mostly broken coral but then there aren't too many good beaches in French Polynesia, One of the best is on the road into the Lodge. You can't miss it since you must drive slowly on the pothole filled road. The Lodge advertized a restaurant but it was closed, I think for good. If you stay rent a car because there is nothing close to this place except other homes. It will be cheaper than a taxi. The management it very nice and accommodating when they are around, which is not often.

Not where you want to spend your vacation in paradise. Nothing nearby. You must have a car. No usable beach. No markets, no restaurants. No staff on premise. Rooms were dark and dingy. Not secure a child could break in. The road was filled with piles of burning yard waste. No other guests were there when we checked in. We checked out 3 hours later and went to the Sofitel. We rented this place through TBD Rentals. They sent us to two dumps we had we to leave both. Avoid them like the plague.

It's not easy to get there, but worth it. The cottages are good quality, although the beds are rather hard, and one would expect at least some windows to be screened (mosquitos are frequent visitors) - none are. One concern we had after locating the lodge on a map was unfounded. While the runway of Moorea Airport is immediately behind the house, airport noise is not actually an issue. Not many planes anyway, no planes during the night, and most noise cancelled out by the constant roar of the ocean. Unfortunately, this did not apply to barking dogs at night. The owners seemed to have a new puppy, which was not too happy being left outside overnight. Another noise issue was early early morning gardening. During our one week stay, the cottage was serviced once. We needed to ask for extra toilet paper. Great snorkeling 10 minutes to the left, some rather annoying dogs to fend off on the way, though. Swimming off public beach which is a 5 minute car ride away. You need a car to get anywhere, as it is a 10 minute drive down a dirt road to get to your cottage. Saw humpback whales not far from shore.
