This time around we took our rv to Alaska and this was one of our many stops. We love the unique town of Chicken. Camping at the Chicken Gold Camp was a good experience and would recommend it for Chicken. It's also in walking distance to the Chicken Cafe with their delicious pies.

You almost have to know about this place to find it. Although some travelers from Dawson City to Tok, Alaska who blink, will pass right by it without seeing it. A small 'outpost' with a couple of stores, one gas station, a couple of RV parks, cabins, and a old fashion saloon is all there is to this place. However,...

Well it's a stretch to call it a good rv park. They are of the grid and run on generators for power. No sewer hook up and 20 amps. The roads in and out are terrible. Took our 40' motorhome to and from would do it something smaller. Nice dredge tour, and along with panning for gold got some flakes....

Hello, The gem and mineral club that I'm with goes up to chicken gold camp every year and we always have a fantastic time. The facilities at the campground are great (bring quarters for the shower) and the owners are awesome. This is my tenth year staying at the camp and once again very happy with the service. You get...

The people who run this place are beyond rude. We got there right before closing and decided to check out another park before committing. We decided to come back and by then they were closed. They do have a drop box for after hours but we only had $20 cash and the rate is $30, so we decided we would...

Iamagew...The night you arrived, you inquired about our camping rates and stated they were too high and left, but after we closed, you returned and occupied an electric site for the night. We do have an after-hours drop box and the instructions ask that you drop a note with your vehicle license and site number (and payment), which you did...

We came with our pans and sluice, but you can rent from them if you don't have anything. The guys that help, esp. Randy, who helped us, are super nice and patient. Everyone we met while working the claim was very helpful. People cam from all over and everyone was having fun and finding gold. Unless you are a lucky...

Not sure what you mean by "gold panning is a analyst", but thank you for the nice review. Our staff does their very best to help everyone and of course we want everyone to find some gold.

We were in a motorhome towing on our way to Dawson City via the Top of the World Highway. As mentioned, the roads are not maintained, but the campground is. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The store here is wonderful, and you could spend days looking through it. Would stay here again.

Although these roads offer breathing scenery, they could use a little improvement. But once we arrived in Chicken & our RV's were covered with dirt, the Campground host & hostess gave us some fresh blueberry ice cream & set our minds at ease is this somewhat "remote" area of the world. They gave us an orientation of sorts about the...

Patti - Thanks fr your review. It sounds like you enjoyed your stay at our campground but did not enjoy the roads. The roads conditions are beyond our control and I would hope that they do not reflect on your feelings about Chicken and our business. We do our best to make everyone comfortable during their stay and want all...

The people that run the campground are very friendly and helpful. They have a great little shop and make awesome cookies. We stayed there during hunting season and I would stay there again. Very clean and well maintained. And seeing the Pedro Dredge up close was awesome. I wish we could have done the tour of the inside but it...

Nice campground in a beautiful location. Free firewood each day per campsite. 2 hours free wifi was fairly reliable. Water available and free gray water dump. 30 amp electric was reliable. Sites in park are educational and enjoyable to see. Awesome stay.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Chicken Gold Camp & Outpost (CGC), an RV park and campground which includes a historic bucket line gold dredge and museum, listed as a National Historic Site, is located in the center of the small, wilderness community of Chicken Alaska. In addition to the 70 sites (20 or 30 amp) which have picnic tables and fire rings, there is a water fill-up station, dump station and clean showers. CGC also provides cabins and rooms with various combinations of single to king beds. There is a restaurant, serving home made entries, beer and wine, and an espresso bar serving fine Alaska roasted coffee, smoothies/frosts and hand-dipped ice cream. CGC also offers an excellent gift store and gallery showcasing Alaska and Yukon native art & crafts as well as Chicken-themed items, a wide selection of jewelry, pottery, clothing, hand-made knives, ulus, prints and original paintings, collectables, etc. Daily tours of the Pedro dredge and the accompanying historical gold mining display are provided. CGC has also been one of the few places in Alaska to offer recreational gold mining (from gold panning to suction dredging), including equipment rentals and free instruction. Gold panning and free lessons are offered on location at stand up troughs. FREE WiFi is provided throughout the park, on the decks and in the restaurant. FREE firewood is included with camping. Kayak rentals are available for use on the nearby Fortymile Wild & Scenic River. ... more   less
