Eric Fox's Bettles Lodge offers the best and friendliest village-based tourism service north of Alaska's Arctic Circle. (I've been travelling Alaska professionally for 16 years). We stayed four days and three nights and saw an absolutely fabulous Aurora display at 4am and on our final...More

Although I was hoping to see Northern Lights during my 2 day visit in February the overcast and snow didn't allow for any viewing conditions. However, mother nature still provided a visual experience that left me in awe of Alaska and the Bettles area north...More

All, I have been reading through all the reviews of Bettle's Lodge and thought you might offer some additional insight as my wife and I are looking at a visit this Sep. We are looking at visiting either before or after a Princess land tour in Sep. If we visit prior to the tour we were looking at around 5-7 Sep and if we visit after it would be around 20-22 Sep. For anyone who has been there in the Sep timeframe I would be interested in thoughts about earlier vs later in the month, even though I realize the wx can vary greatly in any given month. One other thing we are debating is whether to spend 3 or 4 nights - any thoughts about whether we would have plenty to do if we spend 4 nights vs just 3. I realize they offer numerous flying trips or fishing trips at an extra cost but didn't know if there was plenty to do in the Bettles area itself even if we didn't take advantage of those trips that cost extra. Any other tips anyone could offer that might help two 64 year old geezers plan for this undoubtedly once in our lifetime trip would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much for your time! v/r, elk55 Aurora, CO
