Just left San Jose Sunday from a weekend trip. I must say hotel del Rey is one of a kind. Glad I got to experience this place before my time on earth is up. Haha. Definitely plan on coming back soon. #roadtripkings

If you are into low-brow accommodations, this place is for you. The rooms are spartan, but that is not the draw for this place. It has a casino that I love to gamble in. It is the only casino in town that I win regularly at the card tables. Perhaps the greatest draw for this place, and one of the...

If this is your first trip, planning it is this simple: 1. Book your room/flight to SJO 2. Tell taxi driver "Hotel Del Rey" 3. Walk in hotel door, everything will fall into place. Hotel cost will be in the $50-70 range. Guest fees are a low $10-12 so the more the merrier. Don't "tip" the secondary "staff" more than...

Fun place for a couple of beers and whatever else you may be into. The staff and others are not pushy but quite friendly. Drinks are good and priced well. The place is showing it's age however and might do well by a little attention.

This is definitely a single man's hotel! Do not bring your wife & kids! Drinks are cheap compared to US prices & food is mediocre at best. Not very many casino tables (Pai Gow poker was not available). Their black jack rules are weird/different. But of course many men go there for the ticas & at least half are decent.

Over the past 20+ years I have gone to the Del Rey to gamble, drink, acquire the services of a young lady for the evening and dance across the street at The Key Largo Club ( also owned by the Del Rey). For the past 6 years I have been married to a Tica and haven't gone to visit because...

My uncle and I had heard about the Hotel Del Ray before we came to San Jose and where fairly sure of what to expect once we got there. We chose not to stay that rather just stop in and appease or curiosity about the place. The Del ray is a no frills establishment that is more centered around the...

Ask for a room with a window.. or better yet splurge and get a 6th floor room with a balcon. Where a nice shirt... meet an aspiring medical student at the Bar. Go across the street for Breakfast and the best coffee in all of Costa Rica. Room Service is great.... Everything you need... why leave the Hotel? Its not...

the rooms are clean enough and the staff is pleasant and by that, I mean the guys who open the main doors, the ladies who clean the room, and the guys at the desk. The bartenders and cocktail waitresses not so much. You need to pay attention to your bar bill If you come here and if you dont know what...
