I have stayed at the Hotel La Amistad on two different occasions. My first stay was in early July 2009. My most recent stay was in September 2009. I have stayed at other hotels in Costa Rica, but nothing compares to the value and attention you will receive at the Hotel La Amistad I have decided that when I travel...

Booked this hotel from reviews here on TA. Didn't venture past page 1. If I had, I probably would not have booked this hotel due to the countless comments about the trade going on. However, the location is fantastic in a nice neighbourhood vs. San Jose downtown and there is a parkling lot across the street. The hotel interior and...

Costa Rica is considered a tropical paradise with extraordinary ecological diversity. This diversity, described extensively in guidebooks, is what attracts most visitors. What is rarely mentioned is that this same paradise created by year round high temperatures and high humidity also creates a perfect environment for other less attractive things to grow. Many of these “things” such as bugs and...

We stayed two nights at this wonderful hotel and would stay again if we are ever in San Jose. Rooms were clean, staff was very friendly and they even do your laundry!!! Food was excellent! Breakfast is free and you can have fresh fruit and eggs to order. Dinner was my favorite, ask the the Thai soup, it is wonderful!...

I've stayed at Hotel La Amistad three times in the past three months and I've never been disappointed. It seems like every room is different and you definitely get what you pay for. The standard rooms are more than sufficient but the Penthouses are amazing. The staff are more than accomodating and will quickly handle any problems you might have....

Our group of four had a great time staying at La Amistad in San Jose. San Jose is a HUGE city and the hotel was centrally located, about 30 minutes from the airport. There are other restaurants in the area, but the food at the hotel was superb! They also have a free breakfast that consist of eggs, pancakes, or...

We stayed at La Amistad on our first and last nights in Costa Rica. It's about 20-30 minutes from the San Jose Airport. Overall, the hotel is very clean and the restaurant is fairly priced and has great food. There's free internet access as well. The service (both front desk and restaurant) is great as well--and you can definitely get...

Stayed at La Amistad for one night before starting our Pura Vida trip around Costa Rica. I found the hotel to be clean, the staff friendly, breakfast included, parking across the street for $10.00 per day and the location is perfect. Downtown but away from the traffic. I would highly recommed this hotel to anyone visiting San Jose. It is...

at first view, we are impressed by the stylish furniture and nice rooms (small, but all you need). The lounge was fine aswell, BUT: after 1900hrs. this hotel "la amistad" or "the friendship" - is getting a double sense with a lot of women "visiting" their customers in the hotel. So you have a continous door-open/close the whole night, sleeping...

For my recent trip to Costa Rica, I trusted TripAdvisor (cross referencing the lonely planet guide, of course) to help plan the vacation. I was very happy with all of the recommendations that I listened to the TA community for, except Hotel La Armistad. The hotel lobby was really promising. It was nice enough and seemed clean. The people at...

My wife and I had booked a night at La Amistad because we had some personal business in San Jose. We are residents of Costa Rica, but live 5 hours away. So, we drove up to San Jose early in the AM, arrived early PM, checked into our room, dropped our bags and ran to our appointment. Well, the appt....
