The family who runs this place is so nice. They were the highlight of my entire trip. Their pancakes and wraps for breakfast were the best food I had in Costa Rica. (And they gave us the recipe. Delicious!) I am vegetarian and they went out of their way to make special food for us, not just cut up some fruit. The owners help you with any questions you have. The vibe of the place is amazing. The rooms are clean and spacious. There's a pool table and a charming backyard. If I went back to Costa Rica, the only thing I'd do is stay at Eco Stay for a week :).

Staying at EcoStay was the highlight of our trip! The hotel is run by Martha, her mother, and her son - all of whom will go above and beyond to help you out. (We asked them for help with what to see and other information we needed, and they ALWAYS figured it out for us.) In addition to the kind hosts, the rooms are lovely - very clean, nice furniture, and spacy. And the hotel is very central to supermarkets and the museums - only a few blocks away! You can also park your car for free on the road in front (if you have one!) . Breakfast was also included and so delicious. I'm vegetarian (and have allergies) and Martha and her mother were kind enough to make amazing eggless pancakes and wraps for breakfast. This was the best food we ate in Costa Rica during our entire trip! EcoStay is a must-stay place for both individuals travelling on a low budget (they're a hostel and sell beds individually) and also for families (they do provide private rooms and private bathrooms at very convenient prices). I cannot recommend this place highly enough!
