My family and I stayed at La Boruca on our first and last night in Costa Rica. It's truely a magical place. Everything was perfect for us. The rooms are large, the gardens are beautiful and the food is outstanding. (I still think they should have their own cookbook to share) I would love to return someday and spend more...

La Boruca is a wonderful B&B with the friendliest, most helpful owner I have ever met in years of travel. Ken is a gem, super-friendly, with lots of great suggestions. Ask him to tell you how to get to a beautiful hike to a lost city, a place few tourists will ever see. The breakfast is delicious and plentiful. Make...

I stayed at La Boruca with my boyfriend and his parents on our very first night in San Jose and our last night before flying out. Our first night started with a disaster but ended very well thanks to Ken the owner of La Boruca. He was nice enough to come find us in our lost taxi in the middle...

Kenneth had one of his wonderful employees (Kati) meet me at the rental car facility so that I could follow her to the B&B. After the rental car company did not have a car for me, they sent me to another facility and Kati waited patiently while I sorted out the mess. I followed her through the crazy streets of...

All the superlatives have been used....and rightly so. I came as a searcher.....alone and hesitant and was quickly enveloped in this magical place known as LaBoruca....warmly welcomed by Susanna, Kenneth, Jimena, Angela, eventually Emilio, Andres, Katherine, and Kattya. They've shared themselves and their joyful world and I am honored! A pivotal month for me nurtured in beautiful surroundings and positive...

I stayed at La Boruca at the beginning and end of my visit to Costa Rica, and was glad I did. I had not planned on visiting San Jose proper, so the rural location outside of San Jose was lovely, relaxing - and close to birding (Braulio Carillo Park) and rafting (Rios Tropicales). And being met at the airport by...

Pick up from airport in San Jose, amazing dinner, cold beers, perfect hospitality, comfy bed, Internet and movies in the room, ride to bus in the am. 120 dollars with tip. Worth every penny and more in my book for a totally comfortable start to your trip. DO IT!!!!!

Stayed at La Boruca 3 nights in March. Kenneth was a great host (and chef) and the rooms were big and clean. An unexpected surprise was his 3 1/2 year old son who was a playmate for my 5 year old nephew. La Boruca is nestled in the hillside of San Luis, about 13 kilometers outside San Jose. It's like...

First of all ditto to all the reviews before us. The Short version is this is the best place to stay when coming to San Jose. We spend nine days in March 2011 at the La Boruca with Ken, Susan and the kids. The long version is the rooms are huge, clean and beds are comfortable. The landscaping has original...
