Really accomodating, helpful staff. Nice breakfast, constant fresh fruit and coffee (all included). Escalante is an amazing little zona with a diverse delicious food scene and vibrant nightlife. Safe area, and quite close to the bus stations if you're looking to head to the coast from san jose. also, shout out to tiago. gracias pora todo escalante. hasta proxima.

Service provided by the young man in reception was very friendly and helpful. This property is an old house that has been converted into a hostel, and still presents some of the features, such as the beautiful staircase. Whilst it's seen better days (it must've been beautiful in its time), it was fine for the one night we stayed...a reasonable budget option close to the city centre. It's set in a very pleasant garden area and provides a number of sitting spaces. Breakfast was the usual fare and quite acceptable. Main downside was the very uncomfortable bed....and this was one of the best rooms.

Good restaurants in the area. Room is fine. Breakfast is scrambled eggs and bread with peanutbutter. Transfer to and from the airport 75 minutes for 25 dollar. It can be a bit crowded with the people staying at the hostel.
