I came very tired, the people at the reception helped me a lot with everything and especially a guy named Juan who helped me to reach Santa Teresa. He was very friendly. I was very excited to find everything clean. What I didn't like was the car noise that I could hear all the time.

I'm not a huge fan of San Jose, but I recommend spending a day or two there on arrival in SJ to get acclimatised (for me, to the time zone) before moving on. Selina SJ was perfect... lovely bar area with a lot of seating which was perfect for a few hours work. Very friendly staff, great food, and nice drinks. Cant complain! Will definitely be my go to place to stop off in when I need to go through SJ. There is a really nice upstairs balcony area, which i only spotted on my last night... great to watch the sun go down and have a few beers.

Selina in San Jose was such a pleasant surprise when we arrived. The location has a old school, hip vibe to it and offers a welcoming environment to all travelers. The property has a very cool layout. Offering a maze-like collection of hallways and staircases to all the rooms and shared spaces. The neighborhood is a historic area of San Jose that was cool to walk around in. Chris the manager runs a great operation there! The restaurant has a great menu and the chiliguaro was one of the best I had in Costa Rica!

Have had a couple stays here and would suggest to only stop over as area isn’t the most exciting unless you like museums maybe. venue is great and the team are wonderful but not much happening in the area for me. Rooms nice and comfortable, common kitchen great and vibe all good. Some live in guests there who are great also, downside being F&B offering not the best. Definitely a gap there to maximise on! Overall a fun stay. 🇨🇷

The hostel itself is beautiful and relaxing. But hey what a lovely staff! They truly helped me with all the usual travel doubts, and made sure I had the most comfortable stay. Hats off to them! Only little downside is the humidity in the dorms (AC could fix that, and that horrible little closet that was built within the bed boxes. But just being a bit picky here. Selina San Jose will definitely be my home base whenever I happen to be in the capital. Thank you guys!
